  • Recently I was at a gun retailer. I asked to see a pistol. The associate handed me the gun without ejecting the magazine or pulling back the slide. I told them respectfully "It's not that I don't trust you but I like checking for myself to see if a firearm is unloaded". I did just that and they apologized and thanked me for reminding them

That's a great video of one knowledgeable person handing off to another knowledgeable person. Maybe a better video would be of someone off the street coming in and see what they do. If they have never owned a firearm before they probably don't know what a bullet in the chamber looks like or to avoid putting their finger on the trigger. And really is there any safe way to point a gun besides straight up or down while inspecting it? There is always someone to the left or right shopping at the counter.

As he points the gun towards the other side of the room instead of down
  • I have been swept by more guys behind the counter, usually at the big box sporting goods stores where they hire those who are less experienced with firearms.

Also if you absolutely no intention of buying please don't waste the salesman's time wanting to see several guns than pull the, "I would, but my wife would kill me".
