Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix was one to remember for a number of reasons. For Red Bull, it was a disappointing race with Max Verstappen unable to make the progress Red Bull thought he should have and Sergio Perez falling from the front row to 8th place. For McLaren, they were left wondering what could have been if Lando Norris had got a better start. For Mercedes, it was an incredible drive by George Russell to cross the line in first place, securing a one two finish. His disqualification was all the more painful for how bold his strategy call had been to secure the race win. After the race, Lewis Hamilton was furious with his team for his race strategy. Today, I’ll check out the fallout at Mercedes after the Belgian Grand Prix and why both drivers are angry at their team, so don’t go anywhere.

You have not mentioned the extra fuel left in his tank after they had been given the sample/

I thought it was strange when the close up of Toto showed him upset, not celebrating the 1/2 victory. He (Toto) knew something the rest of us did not.

Mercedes knew he was light, that's why there's was more fuel left in the car. They gambled and got found out. Great drive from Russell though.

so let me understand this, hamilton started p3 he overtook both perez and leclerc and made sure he leads and controls the race, imagine for a second if leclerc and perez were both ahead of mercedes and leclerc instead wanted to go one one stop and then made it work like russell would russell have been able to even finish on the podium? i don't think so because piastri or leclerc or perez they all pitted because lewis was ahead of them and he had pitted so practically lewis gave russell a chance to be on one stop as others could not be on one stop, so now explain it to me how was it not a completely unfair call from mercedes to let russell win it when they knew the drs is really short to overtake and hamilton's tires delta would have been offset because of russell's tire-wake? when it comes to hamilton his haters just never accept when something is wrong
  • @AB7F9
Hamilton was wondering "How is Russell getting enough drive out of critical corners to stay ahead on stuffed tyres"?
  • What is Mercedes doing to Hamilton calling him in when he was happy with his tyres? Looks like they are trying to give the advantage to Russell at Hamilton's expense. I cannot wait to see Hamilton in the Ferrari beating the Mercedes next year.

All you Hamilton haters have to understand that Hamilton really deserved the win.We have to be fare and understand his frustration because if I where the strategist I would have seen that Hamilton secures the win just as the Mclarens did the past weekend. If a driver works hard for the win nevermind the team, then he deserves it. If Mercedes planned the strategy well there was a better chance that George could have pitted on time and overtook a few cars for a better position as Piastri did, since Mercedes had the pace last weekend. Now because of greediness they have to pay the price with been disqualified, which was not necessary 🙄
  • It was a devious plan because they benefited from Lewis's strategy to make the strategy of their hype job George. They did not want him to win!! What a bunch of losers they are, always trying to take the glory from SLH.

It wasn't a great drive by Russell, Hamilton knew if he really pushed to pass George would cause an accident before he let Hamilton pass so Hamilton wasn't trying

Even before this sh*t happened, I really have a bad feeling about the The Boy who Cried Wolff. I see Toto, and I see evil.
  • Teams allow a weight of 1.1 KG per Tyre loss , this they have to calculate by not stopping twice , the tires would now lose in excess of 2.2 kg per Tyre if they are left like Russel were. That equates to 8.8kg loss for 1 stopping, if Russel had stopped twice that weight loss per Tyre would be only 1.1kg, so Russel would have lost 4.4 kg and been at least 3 kg within weight , despite Mercedes putting extra fuel in his car as ballast. The most the tyres can pick up on run down laps at the end is less than 0.9 kg for all 4 tiers , Horner say

Reinstate the cool down lap. Here's a question to the F1 fans out there. What is your opinion of moving the FP and Qually timing line to just ahead of pit-in, like Indycar does. My thought is it would eliminate more cars on the track for drivers on a hot laps in both to maneuver around for safety and keep them from constantly complaining. I know it will never happen but I'm just curious. Maybe F1Reverse could throw it out there for debate.

Russell give perrellli great Tyre information
  • Mercedes has stated that if Russell made a 2nd pit stop he would end in 5th place. Mercedes should have instructed Russell to let Lewis pass. That would have been the fair result.
