  • Alex has been sober for several years and is doing great! He has a son with his current partner and his life has improved exponentially since this episode aired! So proud of Alex for all his accomplishments!
  • "He always ruled with an 'iron fist...' -but there wasn't any hitting involved." said every emotional enabler/abuser.
  • @jacky0000
The step dad sounds like those type of people that see something special in someone and try to take it away from them 🥺

That was the most coherent, raw statement I think I’ve ever heard from an addict after everyone reads their letters. That guilt is what fuels majority of addictions and he was able to say it flat out, lot of respect to this guy for being self aware. Was so hard to see him play his instrument drunk in front of his mom.. imagine if that was your child lost in a substance and you were just watching a shell of them. I wish this guy the best.
  • He took accountability tho. It hit me in the feels when he said that he’s still drinking cause everybody knows he’s an alcoholic and his guilt is what fuels his addiction. We all need to learn how to forgive ourselves
  • He’s so intelligent. “The circle of shame and guilt keeps me drunk”…. It’s a bad cycle. He should be so proud of himself for accepting help’
  • I just love how his mom made it like she has done everything for him. Umm nope! One of the root causes.
  • 5 min in and the parents (mom and stepdad) are 100% narcissistic, I went through the exact same abuse.

His mom is oblivious to her part on all of this. She decides to have a kid with a married man, not say anything, decides for her son not to know his father, and on top of that allowed another man to emotionally abuse him. Good job mom.

You can just tell that Alex is an incredibly gifted and intelligent person. I’m so so glad he agreed to treatment and that he’s been doing well.

This mother completely neglected her son and failed to protect him also extremely selfish for not telling the father about Alex. I hope he finds happiness 🫤
  • @Miss_Loving
His mom had a huge part in him becoming an alcoholic.
  • He explained perfectly addiction. Weird, I'm Alex also, I'm a musician also. I also thought I couldn't perform without alcohol & pills. I am 6 months free, now. Let's go Alex, we got this
  • Imagine choosing to stay with a man who terrifies your child, and also having your teenage son tell you he was drinking and you are just cool with it, Both parents broke him, but his mother for sure did the worst damage.
  • @zima627
shame on the mother for allowing a strange man to ruin her son's confidence.
  • Mental abuse is just as bad as physical abuse actually I think it's worse hope Alex pulls himself out of this alcohol addiction and concentrate on his music

Even his voice changes when he's drunk..Like a little boy..Thank God he got clean
