It was another of those Blighted Soil shrines that about got you in Deep Below---auto explore generally avoids it, but still probably one of the roughest things around even with traps greatly diminished even if you can carefully kite enemies into it or occasionall get them CC'd in there and utterly eaten up with the stuff.

I have found that on The Deep Below boss fight you can hide behind the red/yellow tree square to the north of where you started the fight, but you still have to get in los to aggro the little spiders.
