For the better part of twenty years, former Journey frontman Steve Perry has been something of a white whale in the classic rock scene. However, when he was at the peak of his career, Perry suddenly left Journey. What caused Perry to suddenly disappear is still a mystery that needs to be answered. Perry isn't missing out on anything. TO THIS DAY he still get a HUGE portion of everything Journey makes and he still makes money of EVERY song he sang on in terms of publishing and royalties. The simple fact is he doesn't need the money and when he left, he was going through a rough time. He made the call, he saw that he didn't HAVE to work, the bank roll he had from touring and record sales was substantial and the money was STILL flowing in. When Journey reunited, he got a cut of every concert they played and STILL does. Unless he feels like it, he isn't in a hurry to perform.

To the narrator of this, you stated at the beginning Steve leaving Journey/music is a mystery, anyone who is a fan, knows why. As for the rest of Journey, they were being selfish of Steve's decision of his hip issue. Your narrative almost sounds like Steve made the wrong decision to leave. Sometimes celebrities need a break, for however long they need. Nash encouraged Steve to write again.
