We bought our new to us 2015 Range Rover L405 with 4.4L TDV8 with a restricted performance issue. The Land Rover workshop estimated 2800 Euro to fix the issue. We investigated it and found a serious design flaw by land Rover which caused the issue. It was fixable for 0 Euro.

It's ridiculous how much I enjoy your videos - I don't even own a LR!!!
  • @prowler2358
Diagnostics is a dark art when you have so much complexity in a vehicle, but the simple things can trip us all up, well done christian, excellent as ever.

By 26 minutes having had 4 weeks of tough diagnostic work I think I’d have driven it off a cliff. Super work on that actuator rebuild. Respect all round.
  • I thought I had good mechanical aptitude to fixing things but Christian still amazes me. Especially his patience. Thank you to Vera for the camera work and editing.

You guy's are the funniest couple on YouTube, the 'smiles per minute' on this channel are more than what we get from most super star comedians. Well done for all your hard work, - Christian's engineering skills are second to none, and Vera is simply a gem to watch. Have a lovely week.

"The difference between a hoarder and a collector, is that the collector knows what he's got". Wisdom in every video from LR Time!

Through all the humour and fun I have to tip my hat to the sheer skill involved in diagnosing and remediating the fault. Incredible work.
  • love the fact you still put this on youtube knowing your mistake .in my eyes you never made a mistake you tought many people how to solve many problems on your way.land rover made the mistake .knowing the problem and not rectifying it .by removing or repositioning the faulty bag so it could never happen again ever ,great content .

Great work you two. I followed a no crank fault for around 2 months and it turned out to be the ground cable. I took apart the ignition switch, changed starter motor and finally it turned out to be a $0 dollar part. Cleaned it and it started right up. This is the life with these cars, but they are amazing when they work. Cheers from Canada.

Starting around 14:00, you repeatedly mentioned the vacuum/negative pressure out of the air cleaner box ... and then went back to the weak/spongy spring diagnosis and the complete valve assembly machining process. In my mind, I was thinking, "uhhh, did you check intake of the air cleaner box itself yet?" No turbo lag ... but a trash bag! ;-) At the end, every time you kept shoving the bag down in that hood gap, I kept thinking "put a piece of doubled-up black duck tape on it to keep it in place!" I'm really shocked at how that's really OEM sound dampening. That all said, this was indeed a very interesting exercise to see how complex these modern car systems are, but also, as you say, how clever some of the engineering is. I'm in awe of your machining skills, and way you were calibrating the spring tension was really informative. A few days ago, I was making a very minor repair on a utility trailer tarp tie-down, overtorqued a screw and snapped the head off; my first thought was "well, Christian wouldn't've ever done that!" Christian relates how he's waking up early and working four weeks to trace the problem, and Vera says "hey, this really pretty car has massage seats!" That's comedy gold.

As a mechanic that feeling you get when you are at the brink of giving up after exhausting every possible option then to realise it was something you overlooked man that feeling is something else!

The joy that you two show in your videos is addicting to watch. I don’t even have a 405 but watched every minute of this video. You truly are blessed. I hope to one day have that kind of support team in my relationship and that much joy around my Range Rover problems.

Fantastic fault diagnosis and exemplary engineering skills. Everything looks simple in hindsight! What a fantastic result for The Queen ☺️

Question. Has Landrover ever reached out to you about your channel ? You guys are awesome and it like a Sunday morning lecture every week. Always learning.
  • @JohnBaxendale
Never mind the "patience of a saint", you have the "patience of a Land Rover mechanic", hats off to you, brilliant series of videos!
  • @Koopinator06
I want to tell you guys how much of a joy and a pleasure it is watching your videos. Every time I learn something useful and I’m laughing throughout. This might be my favourite video from you guys yet!

Don't feel bad, I'm an electronics tech and I know how easy it is to follow a false lead. Good on you both for persisting and finally...................finally solving the problem!!
  • @muiruri_ke
Hats off to you guys. The amount of patience you have is on another level.
  • @1960livvy
Respect for your patience / diagnosis and for not throwing money at it like garages ! I have recently fixed a 2004 Transmission Limp Mode on a Mercedes 320CLK and that was oil leaking into the electrical plug on the transmission and working its way up into the cabin where the TCM is located - rather amazing Great Work

Valeu! I’m from Brazil, I have a Discovery 3, and I go through this saga of finding defects that shouldn’t exist. I learn a lot from you every day, and how you make it seem easy! Even though I know it’s not easy at all with an LR. Everything is very tight and complex. I believe I’ve watched all your videos, some more than once! This LR Queen series was amazing! Congratulations, Christian! What an excellent mechanic you are! Congratulations, Vera, for supporting him in his ‘craziness’! Congratulations, everyone! Every Sunday is an adventure in an LR, even without leaving the Alps! Thanks!
