Singing isn't the only thing people are pretending to do on musical.ly; apparently the app is home to an entirely more pretentious genre of lazy content: lip synch acting. But how far can someone go in life just by mouthing words that other people said? Turns out, pretty far actually.

Imagine going to acting classes, auditioning for shows, doing plays that will be unnoticed, just for teens to do one line from an emotion show and get comments like "WHERE HER NOBEL PRIZE? NETFLIX DO YOUR THING"
  • @phactress891
I love how Drew's audition skit demonstrates his actual acting ability while at the same time putting the fake acting on blast.
  • The plot to all of these shows sound like a bad Wattpad story a fifth grader wrote after watching Nickelodeon.

brat "actors" : the kids that made fun of the theatre, band, and choir kids
  • @tilly_tills
At around four minutes in, when drew is doing the bit with the audition, you can see a small sign hanging in the background with various horses on it. I have that same sign. Always have. Its always been in my house since I was a small child. I don't know where it came from. Seeing it in this video made me question everything. I'm going insane.
  • Honestly lip synching along to dialogue in a mirror could be a good way to practice emoting more with your face instead of leaning entirely on your voice, as long as you acknowledge that's all it is and nothing more.
  • "I'm not saying this is bad, I'm not saying she did a bad job" I am. That was terrible. She did a bad job.

5 years later and they're still making these shows. Chicken Girls just finished a new season like last week. No clue if the quality has gone up as I don't have Drew to sift through the new shows for me and I ain't doin that myself

To be fair I used to work at a place called “Fish Daddys” so I refer to it as “The Restaurant” whenever possible
  • @sydneygail
So...is no one wondering why tf it’s called “chicken girls?”
  • @jiru331
this feels like opening up a time capsule.
