Hi Bailey, recovered alcoholic here! I can chime in about the hangovers. When you’re drinking hard every day your body eventually gives up on giving you hangovers and just begins to accept the horror of being poisoned all the time. Then, when you start drinking 24/7 you never get a hangover at all! Yay! Except then if you try to stop, you could have a seizure and/or die. Not yay.
  • Am I the only one who always whispers “aqua tofana” back to Bailey every time she says it? 😂

During Prohibition down in the mountains & backwoods of the rural South, moonshiners would work on their cars to make them go faster during their runs. (The better to outrun revenuers, my dear.) Eventually, one moonshiner would challenge another moonshiner to a race to see whose car was faster. Then instead of running from Point A to Point B, they'd create a track in the middle of nowhere or even race on the beach in places like Daytona, Florida. And that's how NASCAR got its start.
  • "Why does the government hate us?!?" Girlllll Why is this so true?? In every language, ever color, every continent. Bailey asking the REAL questions.
  • My grandpa ran a bar and he made something that was called near beer. He could sell it during prohibition. He did make his own liquor and sell that. One time the feds came in and took samples, and put the bottles in their coat pockets. While the feds were talking to my grandpa, my uncle took the samples from the feds pockets, and broke them in the alley. My grandpa would have gone to prison if my uncle hadn't picked the feds pockets. My grandpa the bootlegger.
  • How did I never learn about Dr. Charles?! He is someone worth learning about. Also it seems a little backwards to make alcohol illegal to stop domestic abuse. Wouldn't it have been easier and more efficient to punish men for beating their wives?

The government poisoning alcohol makes me think hard about all these “overdose” deaths.

My great grandma Lorraine bootlegged whiskey as a young child during the prohibition! Born in 1919. She ran the liquor to people. Miss you granny ❤️ you were always badass

Speaking of Joan Crawford, she adopted two daughters from a baby smuggler named Georgia Tann. You might consider doing the dark history of adoption in the US, which was basically revolutionized by the baby thief (Georgia Tann).

Bailey: close your eyes and pretend you live in the 1800's. Me, a black woman: I don't think I want to... Still loved the video though! Love dark history!! ❤
  • Seriously, if Bailey had been my history teacher, I would have actually learned something! 😂
  • @JennaButters
Bailey waving the flag and singing the graduation song to signify talking about America is the energy I needed today.

I can’t be the only one that snorted at “Joan CrowFord - she’s a FLAPPER.” Pun intended?!? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
  • I remember in high school when we learned about prohibition it was mostly saying that it was the woman’s fault because they didn’t want their husbands at bars drinking and they wanted them home… crazy
  • @idk75
Who else’s days get better whenever she posts??!!
  • @MarieC333
My guess on the hangovers: they weren’t as bad because sugar is the key thing that leads to hangovers. This is why wine will cause the worst hangover, because of the sugars. They they were drinking basically gasoline so it was more corn. It helped that they didn’t quit drinking so the hangover phase wasn’t as common because they just used the old keep drinking trip
  • When I was in junior high, my school set up a fun day where they turned the library into a speakeasy and had us sneaking down the hall ways. Had a party and the teachers danced and dressed up. Even went as far as pretend arresting students when they “busted” our party. Def something I’ll always remember.
