Comic Thanos wiped out half the life in the universe to prove his love to Death, who in the comics is an actual entity. Movie Thanos is an unhinged environmentalist acting for the Good of us all. Hard to say which version is more insane.

i feel like people kinda forget he erased all of life so wouldn’t that cut everything in half? half as many cows half as many fishes half as many plants? wouldn’t that just do nothing to our problem? it would be the same just in a smaller scale-

When he says that Thanos may have been right, he flipped the image of Thanos so that the gauntlet was on his right hand.

Personally I preferred his motivation from the comics where he was basically trying to hook up with the personification of death but she's basically like "I'm not interested" but he just won't take no for an answer and goes to ridiculous lengths to try and win her over. Basically, Comic-Thanos is the universe's most powerful incel, and I find that hilarious. :)
