For the desk vacuum thing, I actually say it's good because when you hand sweep it, you have to get up if there isn't a garbage right next to your desk. Also it can probably clean up dust if you're not a frequent duster.

Ok so here is my defense for desk vacuum as some one who owns and loves theirs (her name is Julia and she is frog shaped) as an artist, you risk smudging your work if you just wipe off eraser shavings also they go everywhere. The bicycle one is more for on the couch. I’ve had a ton of clients that use those for pt while their watching tv on their couch. It works better on carpet as well.
