Skooch went from the "League of Legends" guy to a "im gonna stick random characters in different game types" guy
  • ok but "the only thing worse than the fear of drowning is seeing somebody who already did" is an AMAZING LINE

And they say that Toad is still waiting for Mario to find his key so he can finally get to his fridge.

There's actually another Mario Metroidvania hack in existence, this one called Extra Mario Bros (a hack of the original SMB). While the game does have checkpoints, and even a Lap 2 run, it does not have native save functionality... so either you're using savestates, or doing it in one run.

The dev saw your last video on making core abilities cost money and went "Write that down"

You raise a good point. A vampiric Samus would be an awesome final boss for a Metroidvania.

With Skooch tackling that space ship I wanna see him go through the Hell run at the end of the true ending to Cave Story.

I don't even think rom hack difficulty really comes from a lack of design or polish that is afforded to big company games. I think these games are implicitly not designed in a vacuum. Anyone willing to make a hack like this and put in all the effort is naturally inclined to make it harder as the base game is exceptionally easy for them, and they are a part of the community. I would argue that has more to do with difficulty, and it's why things like Kaizo hacks are so prevalent. While smw was designed for first-timers and veterans alike, new players are far less likely to play a rom hack if they have no familiarity with the game it's based on.

Great video! Chasm is pronounced with a hard K sound.

Here comes Skooch once again breaking the meta on the daily. Dang this man cooks harder than anyone
  • That castle boss looked like one of those helper spirit thingies from the Mana games.

I think it's called "quick sand" because that's just how the states of matter work.

There's an open-world-style 2D Mario romhack on the DS. New Super Mario Bros. Endless Earth It's quite intricate.

I've wanted a cyberpunk aesthetic gritty metroidvania starring princess daisy for a decade
