Highly suggest you visit a local pool supply store if you have one. They are more then happy to help if you get any weird water and need a test ran by the pros. Mine even gives you a free bottle to take home and bring back. They don't charge you for that service and will explain in detail exactly how to solve any problems you run into. Do not be intimidated, you'd be surprised to find their prices aren't much more then going to a big box store. I am a regular consumer not a pro this what works for us.

This is what we use in our first above ground pool and it's been clear all summer. Never add more than one chemical at a time. I like to run the filter while adding these for at least half a day/night after adding anything before we swim in it. Always test that you're bleach is at a safe level so no one goes blind or has painful skin issues (thank heavens it's easy to test)!

-Bleach Tablets
-Baking Soda
-Pool Shock
-Algae Control
-Water Conditioner/Stabilizer
-Water Clarifier
-PH Up and PH Down
-Test Kit

Fantastic. Finally someone who explains what exactly to do for starters instead of trying to sell a product. Thank you
  • Hey, I just want to say THANK YOU for being so relaxed and down to earth about this process! Everything else that I have read and watched is disturbing and makes me not want to set our new pool up at all. Nice to see another mom figuring it out and making it work. So thank you for the great information and for not scaring the heck out of me!

I’ve watched sooo many videos on how to get my pool swimmable (is that a word?) for my super impatient kids. Your video actual HELPED! Thanks for simplifying a not-so-simple process.

Thank you for making this look doable! I just got a pool and I have no idea what I'm doing!! This video was extremely helpful. Thank you!!!

Thanks for making it plain and simple! Set up and filled our first pool (same as yours) last night in Florida. Now the dreaded chemicals

Great advice on all parts! Thanks for sharing!

Very informative thank you. I agree to take that extra time to smooth out all the wrinkles my kids were super anxious for me to get it set up so they can swim. It's a pain vaccuuming the bottom with all the wrinkles. Next year when I set up I will definitely take that extra time to smooth out.

I lobe your commentary and speaking style. Makes everything seem less daunting lmao
  • I know this video is 2 years old! But if you still have this pool you should totally get a sand pump! I just bought a similar pool and going to use the pump that came with it for now but I ordered a sand pump. Heard it keeps everything nice and clean! 💗 either way your video was great for me in order to start everything up! Thanks!

Thank u so much !! I was going thru all this videos and I was so confused
  • Borax works best to raise ph and it costs 5$ baking soda is best for alkalinity. That clorox ph up product is soda ash which will raise both...i dont like to use it. I would suggest ppl look up chemicals and what they do...and knowing the chemical names and what they do will save sooo much money. Great video. The pools are such easy maintenance. I use the clorox and hth test strips...the hth seems to work the best bc i added stabilizer to my water and the clorox strip WOULD NOT register it. And I'm also thinking about switching to filter balls which you just wash...
