This 1978 Chevrolet Silverado c20 is definitely restoration worthy! Let's see if it'll wake out of a almost two decade slumber and hit the road once again. I have huge plans for this truck, so stick around to the end to find out!

I think a kid with a mullet driving a John Deere is one of the most American things I’ve ever seen.

The way you treat Bentley while not even realizing it is super heartwarming. You’re definitely doing it right and also teaching the boys valuable lessons in a hard day’s work and integrity. The fact that he jumps right in without any prodding is awesome. Good on ya Derek!!

Derek, please give this to Brantly. What a stand up Son he is. 👍If I spelled his name wrong, my amends to him.

I'm not into building cars, I don't own a fancy car, I don't collect, I don't repair, I don't even drive anymore. Somehow I can't get enough of this channels content. Your dry humor combined with your knowledge of cars and their functions makes me love your videos!

Derek I love how Bentley just doesn't find you as funny as we do 😂 he's just not fazed by it at all 😂 Serious note though I wish I had a dad like you growing up... You're teaching your boys how to be good adults!
  • I love how Bentley can back a truck on a lift and not even flinch. I can't find a mechanic that can do that around here.
  • Every time an old square body is brought back to life an Angel gets it's wings
  • So good to see a father-son duo like this. That kid probably knows how to build a car from the ground up, thanks to his dad. So many guys under a certain age nowadays don't even know how to put water in the radiator. Way to go Derrick!
  • I've said it once before, coming from a feller who didn't have a dad like you, it's really nice to see you teaching your little man everything you have jam packed into your brain! Keep it up Derek, I truly love watching you do what you do!

This episode encapsulates nearly everything that makes this country great. A father and son, a truck built like a tank, and a big block 454 with a TH 400.
  • My Jaw DROPPED when I saw the thumbnail... My FIRST truck when I was 16 in High School back in 1983 was this EXACT Truck.. Identical Color Combination... Mechanical Differences being mine was a 1976 C20 Camper Special with 350 Eng and Turbo 400 Trans.... I've always been a FORD Guy but in high school I needed a ride and money was tight so this is what I got, she served me well indeed... Thank You for bringing back some great memories.. Jonathan

I have to say, Bentley has a great future ahead of him. You're teaching him skills that he can always use. LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!
  • Love to see your kid participating with you and driving that tractor no less! Parenting done right!

Thank you, Derek for all you do. From 2019 to recently, I was an aircraft maintenance contractor in Iraq (Baghdad and Balad) and after a 12 hr shift in the blazing heat (140F) I so looked forward to jumping on YouTube in my tiny air conditioned room to watch the latest episode you posted. I've been watching you pretty much since day one and have shared your channel with all my friends. I realize that as your fame has exploded, you've been taxed more and more to show up at bigger and bigger shows. I hope your success continues as I'm sure it will, but please don't forget that all of us love those great personal revivals that had been your original trademark. That you include your kids occasionally in the vids is fantastic, Derek - it seems such an obvious thing to do, but that your kids aren't anchored to some chair with a bent neck staring down at an iPhone is great. So tragic that the average kid today does that. There is hope for the next generation! Thank you so much for what you've been doing, God Bless your family. Andy - South Dakota

I'm going through some rough times physically and emotionally. Your content helps me greatly. I grew up with folks like you and it seems like I'm hanging out with old friends.
  • @Drspeiser
A guy was just thinking about the ol Vice Grip Garage, and... 😱
  • It really is heartwarming to see a feller raring up his little humans the right way, keeping their little minds and hands busy while learning so, so many things. Those boys will love you even more as they become men and realize just how great their childhoods were because of the sacrifices of two great parents. God bless you and your’s Derek.
  • Little Bentley dude is a rock star Derek, you & your wife must be so proud ❤
  • Well Done Gentlemen. Hope the Transmission still does! Sounds like a Rislone tuneup. That wooden bow tie needs a polish. I invited a 12 year old neighbour kid to go to a Cruise nite with me last weekend. "nope, not interested. click, click, click.. etc."
  • The content your channel makes is informative and entertaining in itself, but I truly love and respect the admiration and connection you have with your boys. The simplest of gestures and the words of encouragement you always give them will make a giant difference in the men they are becoming. Giant tip of the hat Derek and Jessica, y'all are doing a fine job.
