A tip for dissolving cornstarch: the liquid must always be COLD. If not, you'll get frustrated trying eliminate the clumps. Place the reserved cup of milk into the fridge until needed.

Great recipe for those who are not allowed cream due to the fat quantity. My son has Prader-Willi Syndrome; this will be great as a treat on cakes etc.
  • Instead of boiling the milk down, just add some butter to your pastry cream (milk, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla) and I think you'll get about the same result. It's called "mousseline" cream.

🍃🕊🍦🧁I've never seen anything like this before. It looks delicious! I'll have to make double, one for topping desserts and a bowl full for me to eat with a spoon!

Replace the sugar with mild liquid soap and a couple droplets of perfume and you got yourself some old timey shaving cream right there.

You might also what to stop after 3:00 because for some if you mix it it'll go back to being liquid but at this state it's still stiff. If you are mixing it though it should be cold to retain it's shape!
