Three WRC world championships and a European title in just three years. These are the achievements of the Escort RS MK2 . Built on the basis of the Escort Mexico, the German version of the medium-sized car from the blue oval. Equipped with a 240 hp, 2.0-litre DOHC twin-shaft engine, produced in collaboration with Cosworth, it performed well on all kinds of surfaces. From gravel to snow to asphalt, it was homologated to participate in both the Gr.2 and Gr.4 categories.
After the official stop to production, Motorsport Tools continued to produce the car's bodywork for years, which is now on sale for £22,000. The customisation possibilities are endless, starting with the engine, which can be either 2.0L or 2.5L, both Ford Duratec.
The 2.5L, one of Ford's most iconic engines in the 1990s, with 170HP (basic) promises respectable performance for the lightweight Escort. Equipped with Mazda's 6-speed manual gearbox, AP Racing disc brakes, and ATR's adjustable ring-nut dampers, it also guarantees plenty of fun.

Il 2.5L, uno dei motori più iconici di Ford degli anni '90, promette una rispettabile potenza di 170 CV (di base) per la leggera Escort. Equipaggiata con il cambio manuale a 6 marce di Mazda, i freni a disco di AP Racing e gli ammortizzatori a ghiera regolabili ATR, garantisce anche un grande divertimento di guida.     The escorts (Mk1 and Mk2) were the best ever rally cars. Their shapes and size, and ease of working on them made them perfect rally cars. The sierra cosworth was fast but like many cars back in the 70's and 80's were just too big, too top heavy. This is a great video. Many thanks for the nostalgia.
