The best part was the reaction of the fellow actors. The amount of admiration there was in their eyes and how gleefully they were applauding while Leo won the award, just warms my heart.

he would have deserved this award for other films too... Shutter Island, The Basketball Diares, Inception, The Wolf of Wall Street. winning is not always fundamental and here is the proof of it, because the whole planet knows him and we know how good he is, even if sometimes he hasn't won he is still one of the best actors in history and no one can say otherwise.
