My old neighbor Maggie was born in Oklahoma in 1930. She was one of 13 kids. Her father was a dairy farmer. When she was 16 she went to a friend's house, and had a hamburger for the first time. Maggie was soooooo surprised, she didn't know you could eat cows because they only used their cows for dairy cows. She said her dad only killed one pig a year, and the rest of the time they ate mainly squirrels, opossums and racoons. Times sure were different then.

When my dad passed in hospice. The only thing I could get him to eat at the end was White Castle burgers. I’d stop in every day and get them for him. Lord I miss that man. He was the best. ❤

My mother never allowed me and my siblings to eat any kind of fast food growing up. She always cooked for us and was adamant we don’t eat out of the house (however my parents aren’t American maybe that’s why). But she did not permit any fast food, so even now at 22 I still never picked up the habit and I thank her for that.

Fast food isn’t even affordable anymore! I feel guilty af anytime it is a rush night after school and give into fast food. But we were blessed with the help one time from the Ronald McDonald foundation via a RM house when my little was in the nicu- and the RM room in the nicu wing was so so helpful!!

When I was a hairstylist, in the 1970s, I worked in the salon that had the contract for doing Ronald Mac Donald’s wig. It arrived with a specific setting pattern and comb out instructions.🖤🇨🇦
  • anyone else notice her lil burger earrings halfway through and smile? bailey’s dedication is always so much fun

Due to pregnancy complications, my mom was rushed to a hospital hours away from where we lived.I was delivered 2 1/2 months early. She was discharged before I was but was able to stay blocks away from the hospital via Ronald Mcdonald House. She said she was grateful because she had nowhere to go in the area. They didn't charge her a dime for staying there, but she said that they did have chores to complete in the mornings. I remember her expressing gratitude for RMH and it giving her the ability to still stay with me every hour of visiting every day until i could go home. 32 yrs later, she still has the RMH t-shirt they had given her.

My family stopped eating fast food 2 years ago. It was really hard at first but the longer you don't eat it the less you crave it. I feel better without it and the bonus is that I lost 25 lbs. 😃
  • My grandma was part of the generation of housewives where it was embarrassing. But sadly after her husband died in a construction accident and stuck raising five kids alone she just didn't care what anyone thought anymore. Just as long as her kids were fed.
  • I'm Mexican, so, thanks Bailey for saying Taco Bell is Mexican-ISH food haha loved your expression 😂
  • I would love to see a Dark History episode about the history of the modeling industry. You can’t tell me that wouldn’t be dark AF Love you Bailey! You’re the bright spot in my week 😘

In AZ in the late 80’s and early 90’s Little Caesar’s also did the 30 mins or less. Our local one stopped bc they could never meet the 30 mins and my mom would order pizza every other week for Saturday dinner and our entire order would be FREE because she would call at 29 mins and 30 seconds and say, “they’re still not here, I want it free.” And they were obligated to waive everything. Lol. She ALWAYS tipped the drivers extremely well, but she was trying to make a point that the 30 mins or less was a very, very bad business decision.😂
  • We still have Automats here in the Netherlands!🤗 a legendary fried food place that has been around the country since the 40’s. Called FEBO❤️
  • @frugalkitty
I’ll never forget when WalMart started posting a banner of the McDonald’s menu eye-level to toddlers at the checkout. SO predatory and the temper tantrums were unreal! Does anyone know if they still do that?
  • @conva8495
Have you done a DH about frozen dinners yet? Some fascinating and messed up stuff! Love the show!
  • @mousemd
When Fast Food Joints first came out, people ate there occasionally. These days, some people get all their meals at places like these
  • @missfletcher24
It's funny how Ray Krock was a milkshake sales guy and McDonald's milk shake machines are always broken
  • @grodzsag
Yesss girl. Now do shoes and clothes that are made with synthetic textiles and fibers that are linked to endocrine disruption and cancer. Of course blackrock, vanguard, have major stock in both industries. Really everything..our couches, mattresses, hygiene products, household products, car seats, car parts, rugs, etc etc
  • The back to school Door Dash sponsor made me wonder about #2 pencils. Why are they #2 and not #1? Why are they the only acceptable pencils for those bubble tests? I want a Dark History episode about this.
