While the podcast is undeniably great, its current presentation falls short of holding the audience in excitement. Here are some of my suggestions to enhance the experience of your Podcast. 1. Lengthen, It feels like skimming over a topic, with niche details that an average person in terms of history knowledge might struggle to grasp. Make it longer and dare to go in-depth. 2. Prep work, to enhance information extraction and viewer excitement, prepare and follow a timeline. It's currently too interview-focused; shift toward a more podcast-oriented format. For example, in the Vikings video, start with the foundation of Viking culture, delve into the origins of Viking raiding, explore socio-economic factors, and incorporate specific battles into the narrative. Check out the History Machine podcast for a reference. 3. Erik's Preparation, Erik should aim for an intermediate understanding of all topics before recording. While not implying he lacks clarity or education, this would allow Erik to present surface-level arguments, setting the stage for Rudyard to provide deeper insights and contrasts. Hope these suggestions help!

To any discerning listener, the fact that Mel Gibson voiced John Smith in “Pocahontas” made it obvious that he was a complete badass.

This is probably the closest you'll ever get to doing that Australian Civilisation Explained video, isn't it? That's all good, the only thing you really have to know is that Australia is sorta like what America could have been had it kept the Articles of Confederation, given the near-Nationhood-like legislative powers of our States. Another big difference between the Colonial America of the 15 and 1600's and the Colonial Australia of the 17 and 1800's is that in between then you had the Enlightenment, which whilst not really making society any less superstitious, it just changed how that superstitiousness would play out, in that you didn't have witch-burnings in Australia, but what you did have the famous Panopticon prisons, famously seen in Tasmania, with Sarah Island and Port Arthur with hours upon hours worth of back-breaking manual labour early on which was then replaced by solitary confinement, particularly by the 1840's.

"...I think we'll have a civil war in the next year" "Hahhahahah"
  • I'd love a video on the Hellenistic period. People don't realize Egypt was run by Greeks or even Cleopatra was Greek. I think there are great parallels to the modern period, in terms of the Sassanid empire having parallels to Russia, Macedonian to the UK, Greece to Europe, and Alexandria to America (and in many ways, China to Rome). People jump right to America is Rome, because America founded itself partly off Rome, but Alexandria was the Greek colony that went to rule the "world"/Mediterranean (as a naval super power and agricultural mega producer), and Rome in many ways tried to take the best aspects of this culture, in the same way China copies certainly aspects of America.

I am from MA and now live in NH, one of the biggest things here is it's not looked at as good to be flashy with your money, richest people drive pretty normal boring looking cars and build a big house way back where no one can see it but often times don't even do that they live in a very old restored home from 1780 and they put that date on the front of the house so you know just how classy they are. The opposite is like Dallas TX or Las Vegas where anyone with money drive a g wagon and bigs a big house where everyone can see it and dresses in a way everyone can tell they have money to waste.

20:10 >Guy with a time machine: >Gets off in Jamestown, finds the governor and founding ranks of society >Apologize beforehand for shouting. --- >FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT DO IT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE STARTING. FIND ANOTHER SOURCE OF LABOR FROM EUROPE, BUT I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH. >NO SLAVES, NONE. NOT ONE. >[proceeds to then show them a picture of 2024 Haiti and Detroit to drive him the point before time traveling back to his own timeline]

This guy knows more about history than anyone in the American government.

The Puritans would be horrified with the New England of today which is Irish and Catholic, the two things they despise the most.

From British Empire colony to 21st century Hyperpower nation on Earth 🌎🌍.
  • I know this is almost completely unrelated but as a huge fan of 17th-18th century military uniforms, having such a video narrated by one of my favourite YouTubers is certanly something to be glad about today. Cheers!

I've looked everywhere online for Leland dewitt Baldwin's "The story of the Americas" There is obviously no physical copies but I looked up pdfs and still found nothing. When I researched Leland's other books I found the actual pdfs that I could read. My birthday is coming up and wanted to get wether online or physical. The latter is impossible but I may be able to find something online like a pdf. If anyone knows any way I could find this I would love that as I want to create a history channel at the age of 14. I'd be willing to pay a good price for those that have it.
  • I love the dynamic of these videos, as one is asking questions picking apart the brain of the other. It's like I'm in class, but In the most interesting way possible. Please keep making more. You two are awesome!

If you have the time one day could you cover the three kingdoms period ? Not asking for the next topic but maybe a few videos down the line. I work in a college history department, im not a professor, and it does cover the colonial period including the English civil war and its diaspora. The more focused upper division classes cover the colonial period in more depth too. The French actually tried to colonize Florida with some Religous minority group. The spainish killed them. Matanzas inlet Florida. A reason the British didn’t worry about the colonies rebelling was cuz of the military threats posed by the other European colonial powers and the native powers to a lesser degree. So after the French Indian war the colonists weren’t as immediately threatened and the revolution then proceeded after. Also I enjoy these history videos a lot. I’m just curious what happened to common ground?
