  • This was exactly how I felt about the game. It was jaw dropping and awe inspiring, but I feel relaxed when I ride my spectral steed across the Lands Between. Sometimes I’ll sit by merchants for hours just to hear them play music. It’s a game I’d play while snuggled in a blanket. It’s a game rich with lore and scenery, but I’m always so cozy when I play it.
  • I agree. And what’s funny is that after over 1000 hours in the game, the boss fights don’t even interrupt the cozy feeling.
  • I feel like the reason I enjoy elden ring a lot more than previous games is that the world actually feels like a living breathing world and allows you to savour and explore all its landscapes. The fact you can finish a heart pounding encounter after several hours and then counteract that build up tension by galloping on your horse across scenic landscapes, providing a much needed breather. Previous games was just you jumping from encounter to encounter to encounter in claustrophobic environments. The cycle of adrenaline filled battles and then the mysterious yet cosy exploration through the open world in elden ring compliment each other perfectly and really allows it stand out among similar games.

I always tell people this game makes me feel how I did gaming as a kid on my dads N64, not really knowing what or why I’m doing what I’m doing but getting lost and having fun and still enjoying every second of it.

Yes, morning hours in Liurnia are without competetition. The friendliness of Jarburg...
  • I feel this, I actually watched this today after playing some of the DLC offline during the afternoon when my internet was down due to a storm. I have 200 hours in the game and rarely played offline before. Your comparison to watching a scary movie alone vs. with a bunch of friends is right on. Exploring unknown areas without the notes, bloodstains and player ghosts made the spooky environments seem so much more bleak and lonely. I felt cut off from my fellow tarnished and had to figure out everything on my own. Excellent video, slowly exploring Fromsoft's worlds and gathering lore like a dark fantasy archaeologist is definitely a cozy feeling for me.
  • I have one really weird nitpicky. My very first complaint for Elden Ring was the lack of "moments of silence" and not just the constant BGM which drove crazy too. But how we get to Stormhill just after past that ambush, the wind gets heavy, some graves at right and an evergaol at left, not much going on, the ambience is top-notch and then reaching Roderika's Shack wolves comically appear off thin air to attack ruining the moment. Or how in Liurnia comically large lobsters start to sniper us. And that are just two examples. It's almost like From was insecure about leaving emptied places and leaving room to breath, and I do get it's the main loop gameplay to have combat while exploring. There are so many places and areas that I just wished it was emptied because I do think From could totally nail THAT Shadow of the Colossus vibe more and reach greatness beyond. Gladly, I got what I wanted in the DLC when arriving to the Shaman Village, which got to be my favorite moment.
  • you put in words exactly what i was feeling, thanks, happy im not the only one feeling cozy playing this for me, some of the coziest areas of the game are: nighttime limgrave, liurnia, daytime altus plateau (the autumny vibe is amazing) and the consacrated snowfield (especially the ordina liturgical town), not to mention the cerulean coast in the dlc and also the red flower meadow just above cerulean coast

Hello, I am the algorithm and I have found your video! Blessing your great video. keep up to good work.

I always stop to admire an area if I see something worth admiring, like the nighttime view of the Erdtree and Raya Lucaria from the Revenger’s shack. I like to play around with the fashion souls aspect of the game. I look down at fallen foes to study their models because they are worth studying and speculating on. The bats are quite beautiful, having eye-like patterns on their wings. Eyespots are used in the real world to scare away predators. I wonder who the bats’ eyespots are meant to scare. I took an entire month to beat Elden Ring for the first time because I was so caught up in exploring. Yet every new game, I find things I have never seen before, and I still do even with over 1000 hours in the game. There’s always a new little nook to be explored. Even the boss fights are works of art. The Ulcerated Tree Spirit feels like fighting water with its fluid movements. All the massive boss arenas feel like a beautiful stage fit for the demigod we’re fighting. I am glad I’m not the only one who finds Elden Ring oddly relaxing. I still look back on bosses I’ve defeated and remember the euphoria. It makes me smile. This is the best game, and you can’t change my mind. Sorry for the wall of text. I’m just passionate.
  • Elden Ring is my comfort game. I always seem to find either something new I haven't seen, something I've seen but with new insight, something breathtaking, and if I feel like it I can go for the next boss. I love looking for lore, and trying different builds, and challenge runs. there is a sense of discovery and fantasy, and also after so much time, over 400 hours, The Lands Between feel almost like a second home. A never land fantasy without any significant consequences. Once you figure out that losing your runes means absolutely nothing, the game becomes pretty relaxing. Every nook and cranny of this world is filled with something interesting, there is storytelling in the world design. I don't think I've ever been as invested in just exploring the world, and trying to piece what it all means in my head like some sort of archeologist before. My favorite game, of all the games I've played.
  • "It sort of feels like watching a scary movie with friends, except the friends are not with you.. and are actually strangers." It be like that.
  • Damn maybe the youtube algorithm is good again. Awesome video and a concept I had never really thought about before but it really is how i felt playing the game. The moments of respite between bosses specifically after beating Melenia just going back and riding torrent through Limgrave to really take in the achievement was truly a cozy feeling
  • I started a 2nd playthrough to prep for Shadow of the Erdtree & played almost all of it offline. I was realy surprised at how relaxing the game was outside of boss fights. Good video!
  • Completely agree. Across the harrowing spectacles and grueling, dark moments, my all time favorite part of Elden Ring is stopping at an amazing view, and just sitting
  • I’ve been saying I play Fromsoft games to relax for over a decade. I never get stressed out or angry while playing them. If I die I simply try again. Sometimes I’ll listen to a video while I run around and explore, or farm the last few Runes I need from those poor Albinaurics.
  • The dynamics of ER are spectacular. Ot can go from 0 to 100 in seconds, forcing you to remain aware and alert, and focused on the beauty of the world as you traverse it.
  • @atimholt
The coziness of Elden Ring struck me very recently when I arrived in the Rauh Ancient Ruins. The music is incredibly soothing there, too.
  • Very well made video. I love when people talk about a particular aspect of a game that isn't talked about enough.
  • agreed. outside of boss battles and stressful catacombs, most of the exploration is very relaxing and can be played with a cup of tea on hand.
