Stilgar’s got the best war cry I’ve heard since the guy in full metal jacket.

3:33 the way the pop out of the perfect sand and start sprinting is fucking gnarly
  • @jarroddt
0:11 Paul being in two places at once here is just... perfect
  • @impersonal6650
Fun fact: this is the first time we see Chani in melee combat, and she kills 8 sardaukar in 20 seconds 😯
  • @TitaniteHydra
3:15 The sound cutting out when Paul crests the dunes, a caped silhouette walking in front of a massive approaching force as war drums herald the heavy music is a cinematic sequence I'll never forget.

To those thinking the Fremen are OP and this is too deus ex machina, let me emphasize: Neither the emperor nor the baron had any idea that there are fremen in the south, how many there are in total, whether they are dispersed or under central leadership and whether Paul Atreides is still alive, let alone about the nukes - in short, in their mind they landed on a desert planet with a few skirmishing insurgents. Instead they met an army with atomics and accordingly got waxed

This needed to be at least 10 minutes longer
  • 2:26 You have to respect the Sardaukars. They just tanked a couple of nuclear blasts and the squares were already reformed.
  • 2:45 After finding out the History of House Atreides, it gives me nothing but joy and pride to see the Fremen dawn their flag. And it gives me goosebumps every single time

Just when I thought the destruction of Mordor and Mount Doom was a mouthful, the destruction of the Shield Wall was... something else.

This will go down as one of the most epic scenes of all time. From the stunning visuals of the atomics, the sounds of the worms approaching behind the sand storm, the terror of the "most elite fighters" as they look at their deaths in the eyes, and of course Hans Zimmer working his magic with the music. I wondered how/if it would be possible to depict this battle after reading the books. DV nailed it here.

For those who didn’t notice, Chani uses a Maula Pistol at the beginning of the battle with her crysknife at the same time. Arrakis doesn’t have gunpowder and the technology of traditional guns faded into obscurity with shield warfare. Maula Pistols only have a range of 40 meters and used a spring loaded mechanism, they are best used at close range. Much like an airsoft gun, instead of shooting BB’s it’s poison darts. These poison darts can slow down and penetrate shields if not deflected. Wearing armor plus a shield would protect against darts and only a sword or knife could kill the user by striking within the gaps of the armor. Let’s say a perfect piece of armor with not faults was designed in which no blade could pierce it with a shield, the wearer could be trapped or confined. If a bomb were able to be on the armor under the shield, it could destroy the wearer just like the bombs used to destroy the Atreides transport ships during the battle of Arakeen. Even the best defense in the Dune universe isn’t perfect, it’s the ultimate game of rock paper scissors with the addition of an atomic explosion if a shield and lasgun made contact.

When u get hit by 3 nukes, and huge spikey Vajayjay charges at you, and then the sand starts talking and charging at you too
