He is like a strict father… sometimes u might be hating him for been so fierce but sooner or later, u will be grateful to him for everything he did…
  • Singaporean must not forget him. Without his leadership Singapore will not be where we are today.

He's the only politician speaks without using a script... Everything is in his mind and he speaks from his heart... No one in our parliament can be like him now....

The fact that he was hell bent on not having any statues, monuments or streets named after him is truly commendable. He lets the people of Singapore speak for him. We are his legacy.

One of the greatest leaders of the 20th century
  • I am not Singaporean or Malaysian, nor a Malay, Chinese or an Indian for that matter, but Mr. Lee Kuan Yew's resilience and the belief in his people, and Singaporean's belief in Singapore makes me tear up every time I hear him speak. The commitment, honesty and his will is undeniable, the fire in his heart unmistakable and passion to succeed resolute.

I’m a mainland Chinese. And for god’s sake I wish we have someone like him in the past decades. He’s not just the star of Singapore, he’s the jewel of all Chinese

As a Singaporean in his 50s, I am indebted to his leadership in our nation-building years. I’ve lived long enough to see the complete transformation of this island nation into a ‘metropolis’ (quoting Mr Lee’s own words). Words cannot describe how thankful we are to him and his self-sacrificing team. May our new generation remember this - that our country is just a small island not endowed with any natural resource and the only resource we have is our people. Lest we slip into complacency and fail to sustain the high standards set by our predecessors, we must continue to uphold the grit and drive of our pioneers.

One of LKY’s greatest fears for Singapore was the complacency of the people - when people assume that Singapore’s battle for survival is assured, and that they can slacken on the pursuit of good governance. LKY was right. I am often astonished by how so many Singaporeans are constantly and unreasonably dissatisfied with their lives in SG. If one were to survey all the governments that exist throughout the world (past and present), one must admit - when it comes to good governance, it doesn’t get much better than PAP. Many Singaporeans seem to think that European countries or Australia are good examples for Singapore to follow. Remember that unlike these countries, Singapore has no resources, has a tiny population, tiny geography, a perilous neighbourhood. What works for such greatly advantaged countries cannot be blindly assumed to work for SG. On the contrary, many of these countries want to learn from SG (in other words, learn from PAP). Singaporeans need to realise that the good path (not necessarily the new path) is the way to their prosperity. Don’t spill the cup that you have inherited from LKY.

Like it or not, he dedicated his life to Singapore. That's more than any of you haters out there can ever muster
  • LKY and Singaporeans showed to the world what is possible when you have a clean, competent, no BS government.

I remembered LKY cried in front of the TV. I was watching and wondering why he cries. I was a little boy of 10! I like to thank him for giving me the opportunity to grow in a safe peaceful and economic vibrant country so that I too can contribute positively to Singapore and able to raise a happy family! Thanks Mr. Lee.

I'm a US citizen, worked & lived in Singapore for few months in 2015, the year Mr. LKY passed away. I read all his memoirs & watched most his videos on YT. His wisdom not only guided a nation, but also as individual, we all can be inspired & enlightened by his wisdom & realistic approach way of living & seeing things, especially in today's WOKE & messy world. God bless Singapore, I'm gonna move back to the best city in the world sooner or later. Singaporean youths should keep a clear mind & really cherish what they have now, compared to what's going on in USA & EU nowadays.

Amazing achievement for such a geographically small island. And it was The People who shared in Lee Kuan Yew’s vision for their country and gave him the chance to fulfill it. What a life well lived!
