It comes after weeks of impasse, while Israel’s government faces growing pressure from its global allies and the families of hostages, to agree a deal.
The proposal reportedly involves new wording on restoring calm meant to satisfy Hamas's demand for a permanent ceasefire, having been brokered by mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the US – in a bid to secure another pause in the fighting and the release of hostages who Israel says are still being held.
