After about 45 years I know it was Billy Preston who played the piano on this fabulous Beatles song !!!

Is this really four blokes who broke up with bitter acrimonious bile? No, its the Beatles enjoying their work and being four talented blokes making great music and having a giggle. Billy certainly looked like he was enjoying himself.

Billy's keyboards added such a warmth to this song. As a small child hearing this song and being told it was a Beatles song I was confused since it seemed so different from the other songs I had heard from them, but that's what great artists do: confuse, stir emotions and amaze you at the same time.

Never get tired of this song. I especially love seeing how it came together on the Get Back/Let It Be docs.

I love the cup of tea on the top of Billy's keyboard. So rock n roll

Aaaaargggh!!!! I’m 76. I worked round the corner from Savile Row. ( Grafton Street) when this happened . So, it’s a very special track. It’s a simple 3 chord rock/blues. Lennon makes it. His rhythm playing is very funky. BUT!! It’s his fills and lead solo that is beautiful. He’s never been a technical genius. But it’s perfect. AND I have never seen a close up of Lennon playing it. On the roof there are close up shots of Billy P and all sorts but when JL plays the solo there’s no solo close up. Back in the day, camera men didn’t know a lead guitarist from a bass guitarist. As years of topofthpops has shown us. Rant over. .
