Interesting, how is it holding up a year later? I'm running into the same issue and considering working through your plan. Any updates?

I did what you do in the video but now the display doesn't work anymore and there is no control at 20V (the top of the solder will be incandescent!) Very dangerous! At 12 V, still no display, but decent amount of correct required for use the solder

No good idea.. You are buy Sequre Store PD cable.. No DIY good RUN.. PD cable price 4$..
