Cleaning my NYC Apartment for the first time

I just finished cleaning and rearranging my room for no reasons, perfect timing.

Okay but the kitchen and bathroom cleaning montage starting at 6:42 was sooo relaxing. Most cleaning videos have those upbeat bg music, which at my current situation makes me more unmotivated. It's like a gentle reminder to me that cleaning shouldn't always be daunting. I appreciate the balance between the upbeat and relaxing music. Thank you for this vid :)

9:59 put a little baking soda and salt in the bottom of the garbage (I like to put it in a cheese cloth bag or something similar) it can help with the smell and bugs.

Satisfying cleaning video! A tip I got from a cleaning lady is to spray the cleaning spray on your kitchen wipe, rather then on the surface you are cleaning. Honestly I forgot the reason, but I'm still doing it and I think it's a bit easier. If anyone knows why, please let me know.

Put ur compost bin in your fridge until you are ready to throw it out!!

Compost bins in homes have been the norm in the UK for a very long time. My council doesn't allow ANY food waste in the bins at all (as in the non recycling bin, where everybody put it before that policy) so the food waste bags they provide go in the bin given to house owners for grass cuttings etc (and if you put your dog's poop in a compostable poop bag you can put it in there too). I assume apartment buildings have their own system but nobody I know lives in an apartment so I can't talk on that. I'm always shocked to see other countries don't do this. One tip we've found handy over the years during the summer is to put a bit of apple cider vinegar in a shot glass, lay some clinggilm/ cling wrap over the top and stick a few holes in there, then place it near the compost caddy. The fruit flies are attracted to the smell of the ACV but can't get back out due to the clingfilm. We also put paper towels at the bottom of our compost bin to catch any spills if they happen. Might help with the fly situation assuming they're 'fruit flies' and not what we call 'bluebottles', as in the 'buzz around then knock themselves out on a window' flies.
