Hard to believe The Beatles made so much great music in such a relatively short space of time. Less than seven years. Unbelievable.

This is one of my favorite Beatles song. John’s voice is so distinct. Love his voice.

The fact Paul helped John with this song, and much later on, helped Yoko repair her marriage to John following the "lost weekend," reveals so many sweet layers to their friendship. Paul was always a real friend to John and all the people touched by him, no matter what.

Harrison said: "I didn't mind not being on the record, because it was none of my business … If it had been 'The Ballad of John, George and Yoko', then I would have been on it."

Still blows my mind that this was a Beatles song.
  • The Beatles are the best band ever. I listen to this song every day. Never tire of it. This song would be a top 5 hit even today.
  • True story: John and Paul did this song. John played guitar and Paul played drums. John turns to Paul and says, Go a bit faster, RINGO! Paul replies, Okay, GEORGE!

That's how much of a friend Paul was. Even tho he didn't quite agree with the yoko thing he still helped john record the song and did the backing vocals! Lennon and Mccartney 4ever

“Christ you know it ain’t easy!” You said it, John. ❤

Considering this song was done by John Lennon and Paul McCartney with no Ringo or George Harrison, it's amazing. They certainly were phenomenal in every way.

A bit of trivia.... John and Paul were the only two Beatles playing on this. Paul played all the percussion and piano and backing vocals and bass obviously. John on lead. George was out of town and Ringo was probably drinking.

The magic of the Beatles is in the layering of those vocals.
  • I love how Paul's harmony sneaks in gradually until he's just ripping it up at the end.
  • I've always wanted to visit Austria and if I ever do, I'm going to Vienna and eating a slice of chocolate cake out of a bag just because of this song.
  • The morph of the Beatles in just six years was just incredible! Musically and appearance wise. Just incredible.
