Hiking Couchsachraga - The Dreadful Mountain Special!

Published 2018-09-01
With a height of 3,800', this mountain is the shortest "High Peak" of every New England 114 mountain. "Couchsachraga" is based on an Algonquin or Huron name for the area, meaning "dismal wilderness" and in this video, I will show just what that looks like! My name is Jonathan Zaharek, and I am a professional photographer traveling the world. Check out my pages below!

I liked the video bro, Couchsachraga would have been rough at night.
  • I’ll be headed out there when the weather gets a tad bit more reasonable. Thanks for the info man.

nice video man! it's kind of nice hiking when it's supposed to rain; usually you don't see other people out when the weather is shitty. i did armstrong, uwj and lwj a week or so ago and it rained in the morning and cleared up in the afternoon and it was one of the most amazing sights i've seen in the high peaks. planning on doing the dix range this sunday (the 9th). congrats on becoming a 46er also, I'll be at 25 after this week, but not really in any rush anymore lol
  • Whats up my man good morning....im from Massachusetts, i always go to the whites, but am starting to feel like ive neglected the Adirondacks..thanks for the videos/information..
  • Amazing I am inspired to be a photographer I just finished rpr and giant yesterday
  • Kind cool seeing the same thing you filmed in here. Did this about a month ago but went up the express.

If you're still in the Adirondacks, you should complete the Tupper Lake Triad. A very easy 3 mountain challenge around Tupper Lake. You should be able to easily complete it in under 4 hrs.

Couch was my finale :). By the way it's Northeast 115 list, not New England 114 as you stated in the description 😊

Do yourself a favor and buy some lightweight Icebreaker merino wool short sleeve shirts for trekking. You'll thank me when you don't smell after a day out in the sticks or in need of a sky crane to remove your t-shirt.
