I'm seriously considering learning to play the bagpipes just so that I can on special occasions go into the hills and play this song whilst thinking about my ancestral land. A single tear rolling down my chin as I play my heart out. Local children will hear legends of me; their mothers will say that when they can hear the hills singing, it is old TurtleMarcus on the bagpipes, longing for ages past. On the local pubs, men will cheer and drink a pint, when they hear the pipes in the distance. And then they'll tell stories and have a good time. One day, the pipes will become silent. And ol' TurtleMarcus will be gone. Then they'll realise that his tears were of joy, and not of sorrow. And who knows? Keep listening for the pipes. If you're lucky, on a quiet morning, you might just hear ol' TurtleMarcus, or so the legend says. Maybe someone took on his mantle and keep playing. Keep listening, children, and never forget the good times.
  • First New Years without my dad, and it still hasn’t sunk in yet. Cherish those around you, as you’ll never know when it could be their last. Happy New Years to you, your family, and all those who aren’t lucky enough to be with us today. 👼 🙏🏻
  • I am a Russian Jew, I have nothing to do with Scotland. But in my school we, for some reason, had learned this song in the course of our English lessons. Our teacher told us that this song was in "Old English", even though it was obvious for me (a future linguist) that it wasn't true. I had learned this song, however. Now it brings me good memories. There is nothing more heartwarming, more sacred for me than other nations' songs. It is a testament to peoples' unity. We are all a big family, but some are more close to each other, like a family. That is what called a nation. May the whatever god you believe in be with you.
  • Happy new year, to all you Internet strangers, people I haven't met and those who I never will, May the forthcoming days bring you joy and prosperity

they gonna be lots of tears when "Auld Lang Syne" play at the end of 2020. I have lost some very good friends who died from the coronavirus.

Dear Elisabeth: You really were an inspiration to many people, you did so much in your life that you deserve to be received with all the honors in the house of your ancestors. I regret that I was not born in the United Kingdom and can kneel proudly before such an honorable and heroic person as you. No one will replace the void that your departure has just created. God save the Queen

I'm from Mexico but i really love this, it sounds so noble, proud, powerful, and even peaceful, it gives hope. It's really beautiful. I'm really glad we can have something like this among the human cultures.

Start playing at EXACTLY 2 minutes, 44 seconds to midnight and you'll hit the chorus right as the new year starts. There's even a PERFECT break in the song to count down from 10 right before it. :)
