Ancient Japanese Poetry Gathering in Kyoto - Kamo Kyokusui no En 加茂曲水宴

Kamo Kyokusui no En is a poetry gathering at Kamigamo Shrine where participants write poetry with brush and ink. Cups of sake are floated down the stream then given to the poets. Such poetry gatherings were the height of culture of the Heian Era (794-1192). This event is held on the second Sunday in April.
