I went back to explore Lake Huron beaches and got some sand samples to bring home and run. I got 11 colors to a half gallon sample from black sand on the surface of one beach.

Another beach I checked was frozen solid and I could not break through.

I got two 5 gallon bucket samples from another beach that had a thawed layer on the surface and a frozen ice layer a couple inches below that. I am thinking that the frozen layer formed a sort of false bedrock and trapped the gold there. I will see.

Watch for the next part when I sluice out the first of two 5 gallon buckets of Lake Huron Michigan black beach sand.
