What a cool opportunity, and what a nice way to showcase Butch’s hard work. Also, I could watch that black sand separator all day.

Shane, forgive a boneheaded question: Why not fabri-cobble a simple mercury retort? (They are only like 180 bucks ready made, if you want) Just seemed like a bad idea free venting boiling mercury nitrate fumes. With a retort you didn't have to worry as much about the fumes, and the mercury could then be sold/disposed of. Anyways, I highly enjoyed the video, and good on you for doing this for Butch and his widow.
  • God bless the late BUTCH, RIP my friend, these treasures should bring your family some joy and a little wealth I hope, and thank you Mr Klesh

Gold recovery if fascinating, Sreetips here on YouTube refines a bunch of different metals using chemicals, I could watch it for hours 😀
  • Shane as always your one class act in helping out Butch's widow.
  • You are wonderful!! I’ve helped finish quilting projects and it means so much to have these things finished! And I love how you put people first!
  • I’ve been following for years and I really have a great appreciation for how much you enjoy what you do. I’m so glad your life fulfills you. We can see through your videos that you are a kind hearted person yet strong enough to maintain and persist and work hard. Thank you so much for showing us all of the interesting ways we can be involved in prospecting and treasure hunting
  • You can also use the hex end of a wrench to synch the shop towel. Just feed the towel through and do the same as you did with your hand.
  • I am so glad I'm here it makes a guy feel pretty good to see you helping out and that you have a good heart. God bless.

Just a suggestion for cleaning the mercury sample. Get a large needle from a plastic/fiberglass store, with or without the needle remove the plunger push a wad of cotton ball into the bottom of the needle barrel. Add the mercury, replace the plunger, add distilled water to a beaker, submerge the needle point and push it in. The mercury will flow out, will not splatter and when submerged will trap mercury vapours. It is a bit safer for you that way. Great video, good of you to help the lady, sorry Butch is no longer prospecting here. Cheers

I spent many summers in Oregon digging black gold and gold panning. It was especially fun to go to the old dried up river beds remove some of the old rocks and dig through the black sand. We never left empty-handed. I wish I could go back and do it all over again. I love these videos.
  • Enjoyed the video Shane, you know your 💩 man, and it was a great thing to do for a fallen Brother Brother prospector and his widow ! Thanks for what you do man ! PEACE 🙂🌞✝️
