1955 Chevy Gold Car - 50 Millionth GM Tribute Car

Published 2024-02-06
On November 23, 1954, the 50 millionth GM car, the specially built Golden Chevy Bel Air, rolled off the assembly line and onto a parade float. It disappeared shortly thereafter. Now, years later a group of guys decided to re-create this car. Snodgrass Chevy Restoration brought it back to life, as closely as possible to the original. Here is a walk around of the GM 50 Millionth Golden Car re-creation.

i've always been a chevy guy and have heard about this car but i figured it was a myth. i just can't believe GM had made 50 million cars ever, that seems like an unreal number even now. it's a beauty.

Beautiful! As a 5th Gen Bel Air owner I love it. Great work and thanks for keeping History alive and telling its story.
  • Almost had a 55 four door and always loved that style and one day I will get a 55 2-door and make a gasser out of it, just like the one I remember as a kid … ❤️ Love the story of the Golden 55 ‘s, 1,2, 3 .
  • Very nice job on the build. It looks just like a car I would expect to represent the 50 millionth GM Built.

My dad and mom's first brand new car was a 1955 Chevy. I was 6 years old when they got it, and it's still one of my favorites

Wow! I had always wondered where this car went! Great coverage of all of the unique qualities of the early production '55! Beautiful car!

This beauty should have been in the movie Goldfinger with Bond behind the wheel. Again it's a beauty

Fantastic job, you would think that GM would have documented every detail of a car such as this. surprising that surprising that they didn't.

Sure does make a guy really scratch his head wondering where the original may have gone and why GM didn't hold on to it. What an absolutely beautiful recreation.
  • I've heard about that car, I've seen pictures of it but its nice to be able to see it after 70 years as it was back then, Awsome job! Great video, thanks for sharing that beautiful piece of G M history .

I was thinking about skipping the Autorama for the first time in about 20 years but I would love to see this in person. I know it’ll be right at the front door for sure 👍🏿

What a beautiful job you guys have done. The Ole 55 is just mint looking. I've always wondered what happened to the original 55 it's got to be out there somewhere. Again great job 👍🏻

That 1st 1967 Camaro that was recently found was painted gold too.
