I've been racking my brain to try to figure out how to explain growing to new creators, every few weeks I try a new approach hoping it will help new streamers grow on Twitch in 2023. Today, inspired by Yozoro Aoi, we're trying a new approach, and that's the Ratio System.

🔴Massive Shout out to Yozoro Aoi for inspiring this script last year:

How To Grow On Twitch?

If you want to grow your Twitch stream, it is important to be critical. Being critical isn’t a bad thing, people say, “Oh don’t be so critical of yourself!”.

But there are a lot of things you can control and improve, such as your visuals, audio, and most importantly your content that you’re creating. Watch back your VoD and be honest with yourself, is it up to scratch. Does your mic sound good? Are you engaging? Is it easy to watch and enjoy or is there something that is off-putting? Be honest, push yourself to grow, and become a better entertainer!

Because at the end of the day, the only way you are going to grow your stream is by growing yourself and being critical in a positive way.

What Bitrate And Settings Should I Use For Streaming?

The easiest way to understand bitrate is by calling what it actually is, your upload speed to the Twitch servers.

Now you’ll need a higher bitrate depending on how high quality you want your stream to be, this means 1080p 60 frames per second will need a bitrate of 6000, which roughly equals 6megabits upload speed on your end being taken up

By lowering your resolution and framerate, you can make it a lot easier to stream, for example, if you set your base canvas size to 1920x1080, but change your output to 1280x720 otherwise known as 720p you drop down to only needing a bitrate of 4500 or 4.5megabits.

If you still want 1080, you can even just lower your framerate from 60fps to 30fps and then adjust to 4500bitrate.

The style of this video is similar to Alpha Gaming and Gaming Careers in parts. A large influence on this series has come from content creators like Wild4games and Nutty.

I am worried people are going to ignore what this video is saying, or assume its the same as every other how to grow guide. Please take a second to really stop what you're doing, and engage with the concept. This isn't, "Hey go use YouTube," or the normal basic stuff, this is really trying to make you think about who your audience is, and where you're going to create to reach them, how you're going to keep them, and what to do if you lose them.

All great advice as always. I don't have a huge following yet but I have noticed that consistency while keeping things new and fresh can really help with the retention factor. Interactivity is also a great way to boost your viewership. Never underestimate the power of including your chat in what you are doing. Increasing your reach has so many merits too. Nobody can find you if you aren't out there showing off why they should be watching you in the first place.

I really love this. I've never thought about the specifics of my audience like this before. Some of this is stuff I've thought about, but then fear about moving from one thing to quickly, or sticking with something for too long, or the variety of content being too different. This is a really helpful way for me to contextualize things, thank you.

Been struggling with churn myself, and new viewers rarely stay long-term, so I think I just need to focus on what I'm good at more instead of taking an unfocused approach, focus on reach, and try to get a more concrete vision of what an 'avatar' for my channel would look like
  • @akita5857
