  • Only just catching up with Shuttle Sunday, sorry for my bad. Fascinating insight and looking forward now to catching up on the other Shuttle Sundays. Thanks Chris, Soyer and Jack

Thanks for doing this NSF. Wonderful content as always. Grew up in the golden age of NASA so appreciate seeing this material. Looking forward for future episodes.

I worked for NASA at JSC when Endeavor was transported to Kennedy Space Center the first time. They circled the facility before landing at Ellington Field. Seeing the 747 and the shuttle circle was incredible, but seeing them on the ramp is hard to put into words. It was awe inspiring.
  • That speech at the end was inspirational. And proved that Columbia was indeed the best shuttle...
  • @amycollins8832
Thank you for adding the Columbia tribute at the end. I've not seen this before.

This was an awesome show. It truly was a privilege seeing this old footage.

10% likes? Am I only in the 10%? This reduces my perception of what is important to humanity. OMG please Chris B....!!!! Keep doing these till the last flight of shuttle! I love It! Thanks for your contribution Jack and Sawyer! (spelling?) :) All smiles aside this is the content I want. This is content that causes tears of heartbroken memory. I miss those (hate that it is plural) shuttle crews! Thank you so much! Jack - Beard please, lose the kilt :) Gage - Jake rules! lose the bird - um natural enemy of Jake! Jake for president! So thankful you are all here! Has there ever been braver humans? Mach 2.8. Stage sep anxiety....what a perfect time to be alive... this was computer assisted flying. Underline and highlight computer assisted flying...to space... I LOVE that you covered the landing.. no go arounds...Our hearts were with them...............................

Awesome, boy does this bring back memories of my younger days! Thanks so much.

I was there on the causeway overlooking the clock. I went down after school with some friends. We stayed with my cousin the first night then my grandmother the next, so that we could watch it.
  • Watched most if this live, excellent discussion and cool pics and vids. Nice ending with speech from Crippen. Was 13 when STS-1 launched so it is vivid to remember as I was too young to remember last lunar landing. Live in Florida now and saw five shuttle launches in person near Titusville and Cocoa Beach, and many from west coast. Have been to several Space X, including Heavy, launches, cool as well but not compared to the display of a shuttle.

I was at white Sands missile range waiting for the launch. We were there for the 6 months preflight training for landing approach. I was in the USAF and supported the preflight training and for the first three landings. The 3rd flight landed there. We had crews with mobile TACAN navigation systems at all possible landing sites.

It was the mighty Space Shuttle that got me interested in Spaceflight
  • @optimusfuturistX
Thought you were going to do this when nothing was happening .. we had crew 8 yesterday.. ugh mad I missed this live😂

Why did this never appear on my subscription feed? I found this on the list of random videos on the right edge of youtube page when watching a different NSF video. And apparently the same thing hit many others because this has a small fraction of number of views of other NSF live streams!
