South Korean Military Could Soon Ban iPhones. Here's Why | Vantage With Palki Sharma

South Korea’s military is contemplating a ban on iPhones within military buildings due to mounting concerns about potential leaks of sensitive information through voice recordings. At the centre of this, is a military app that restricts the functions of a phone like camera and voice recordings. Apple's strict privacy controls prevent the app from restricting the iPhone's functions which has raised questions of a ban. Interestingly, while iPhones could be explicitly banned, Android-based devices manufactured by Samsung, are exempt from the ban. Also, restrictions on smart devices in secure facilities are standard practice, implementing a total ban is less common. Can Apple prevent this ban? Palki Sharma tells you.

I used to only buy APPLE but I’m sick of APPLE now. There is no innovation just a name and brand. Few details. Overpriced

Korean military is learning from Ukraine-Russia War and doing what is necessary. Remember in the beginning so many Russian soldiers got killed by intercepted cellphone signals revealing their locations? And social media videos they posted also gave big hint about their location and got them killed. So Korean military now require soldiers to install the app to prevent any leaks either by an accident or on purpose, but Apple app store is not very cooperative. That's all.

No more iPhones for me. Tried the iPhone 12 as an Android user and absolutely hated it, so no more of that constricted cell phone for me.

US refuses to give up the power to command South Korean military despite the initial agreement having expired in 1991 and forced a revision on South Korea

They sensed this already and shutdown their Apple car to navigate through this tough trend

This is only a ban in the military. It’s not being banned from the country.
