Jayy- The Be Gees consisted of Barry, Maurice, and Robin. Robin was the one dancing in this video and Barry was the lead of the group. He is the only one still alive. Andy was the yougest brother and he was to young to join the group when they first started. He died in like `988.

Apparently they wrote this for Otis Redding but he passed away before he could record it----their version is great but I really would have loved an Otis Redding version, too.
  • @demariobrown3099
That is Maurice's high falsetto tenor which would later inspire Barry to utilize his own

You should watch them on the Micheal Parkinson’s show in 1981. He interviews them then they sing some songs, still sitting there, 2 acoustic guitars and their wonderful voices. Massachusetts is especially good. That was very live!

The original Bee Gees sound. Have always loved it! Thanks Jayy.

I know The Bee Gees are noted for their disco era. BUT I prefer their pre-disco era. So many great sounds. To Love Somebody, Words, I Started A Joke, Massachusetts, I Can't See Nobody, Lonely Days. One right after another.

Barry and Robin sang shared lead a lot. They all could sing in falsetto that Barry is most known for especially when he started using it all the time for the disco songs. There are a lot of songs with Robin on the lead, and a lot with Barry on the lead. Mo has just a few as he preferred to play over singing and like to fill in where needed. Man in the Middle is a song with Mo in the lead. A lot of people prefer Robin's voice, me included. A lot of people say he had the voice of an angel. Some with him on lead are Massachusetts (you have to see the live - he got a two minute standing ovation), his signature song: I Started a Joke. Two others with him on lead or shared lead are For Whom the Bell Tolls and Alone. He had a very unique vibrato, and a very vulnerable sounding voice. They did more R&B type songs before they did disco. They were asked to do the disco songs for SNF. Their song Fanny Be Tender with My Love was one of Quincy Jones' favorite r&b songs. They didn't do it live because it was too difficult, but it's an amazing one!

Andy wasn't a member, just a solo who would join them occasionally

Barry, the eldest, singing. Robin in white and Maurice (Morris or Mo) is on the other end. Robin and Mo were twins. Andy was the younger brother. He had his own successful career and was not a Bee Gee. The Midnight Special was very popular in the 70s early 80s. "All the good people" for sure. Lip syncing was not allowed on this show. Well, with a few exceptions. (Midnight Special has a YouTube page, with full episodes). They could all do falsetto, but Barry usually did it. Try finding videos of each one singing lead. Their voices are completely different but they come together amazingly. Hits beginning in the 60s (although they started singing before that). Their last song was realized in 2001, 2 years before Mo died.
  • Have you reacted to their younger brother Andy Gibb on the Midnight Special singing, I Just Wanna Be Your Everything? It's fantastic.
  • I believe it's Robin in the middle. That was Barry. Maurice at the other end.
  • @Sandra6411
Barry was leading the song. Robin was in the middle, and Maurice was on the left singing the higher part.
  • Aww Jayy, my heart always smiles with a Bee Gees reaction! Please do For Whom The Bell Tolls. You get a wide range of vocals from Barry and Robin. Also - Rings around the Moon (Robin Gibb’s funeral) very SAD, but breathtakingly beautiful….just have tissues ready. Thanks again! Great reaction! God bless you!
  • Barry is the last of all the brothers that still alive, but he does have one sister still alive. There were four boys in one girl.
  • They were the hosts of the midnight special at this time and Andy was only 15 years old!
