NFL Hall Of Famer and Super Bowl Champion Warren Sapp joins The Pivot in a conversation about lessons learned and life after football.

In a honest and emotional discussion, Sapp talks about his struggles with memory loss and the side effects he is starting to experience as he hits that 20-year mark of playing football. Channing brings up Junior Seau and how hard that was to learn about as Sapp explains to Ryan and Fred the fears that lie ahead.

Sapp admittedly discloses that it’s easier for him to recount stories when he is in a familiar environment like the locker room atmosphere and goes on to share some memories with Ryan, Fred and Channing of his playing days and his Super Bowl run along with leading one of the best defensive units in NFL history.

Fred asks if Sapp thinks Aaron Donald is the best to play the position as he explains his answer.

Leaning into the veteran perspective, The guys ask Sapp what advice he would give to younger players and youth today. Not shying away from his infamous Arizona incident from 2015 and how quickly things can change, “Dungy always told us five things that would keep us on the straight and narrow…And he was right,” Sapp says.

  • I've waited 50+ years to hear football being discussed like THIS by real NFL players. Salute.
  • @tredd234
Warren Sapp was a beast when he played! I wasn't expecting this conversation to be what it was. This episode should be required viewing for athletes/parents/coaches everywhere because it hit on so many things. Having a part 2, would be great, to me, because this just scratched the surface. Please have Warren Sapp back. A job well done fellas!!!
  • WARREN SAPP is so underrated! He’s low key a GOAT & he doesn’t get even close to the recognition that he deserves.
  • The final part of this broke my heart. Sapp knows his end is coming. But I'm glad he got his flowers!
  • Listening to a defensive tackle talking about knowing everyone’s role and what they’re supposed to be doing is incredible.
  • Just like Ryan said, the crew got to relax this time...Sapp carried the show!
  • Warren Sapp is hands down a walking football historian/statistician/storyteller/ commentator/analyst just listening to him is pure genius!!!🏈❤️
  • Every time I watch an episode of the pivot I say “this was better than the last”. Warren Sapp episode is top 5. Love this show man.
  • I can listen to Sapp talk football all day but why y'all had that supermodel photoshoot fan on him? Had that brother's shirt doing cardio the whole podcast 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂

  • Sapp is MAGICAL! I haven't seen anybody talk football or tell stories like him. The excitement. The details. the knowledge & understanding of the game, plays and positions. Sapp is something special. Salute to ONE OF THE BEST EVER ✊🏾💯
  • This gotta be one of The Pivot’s BEST episodes. Warren Sapp is a ball of positive energy, a student of the game, and is a walking book of knowledge. I got emotional when he started taking about his trials with CTE, but it’s a conversation that needs to happen. Outstanding episode.
  • Sapp itching to be on the pivot. It's the perfect platform for him. He has so much knowledge and wisdom about the game and life to impart. That cte part definitely hits home, I feel that way at times. I feel Fred, it's scary to realize that can be your future. I wish this episode was at least a half hour longer or had a part 2. Love to hear these 4 just talk. Hope Sapp guest hosts !
  • I started tearing up hearing Sapp discuss what he's going through with CTE...he was joking but seriously the panel wasn't. This is real and I feel for him. My cousin who played w Sapp in the NFL is going through the same thing and honestly I hope these players get some real help before its too late

Being a lifelong Bucs fan this interview was everything. Sapp has been interviewed plenty of times in the past but this interview shows every aspect of what makes this man so great. I was hoping for it to go on another couple of hours.
  • I have watched this interview at least 30 times; and have taken something away differently each time. The transparency, interview style, tremendous guest variety- The Pivot has become the new gold standard. Bravo gentleman!
