Hiking the 15.2-mile loop of the Dix Range in the ADK

During mid-July, I hiked the Dix Range in an effort to go back to finish the whole loop, which I originally attempted nearly 2 years ago. This 15.2-mile loop has 5,196 feet of elevation gain and contains 5 total mountains: Macomb, South Dix (Carson), Grace (East Dix), Hough, and Dix. On this trip, I will be completing my 40th high peak in my aspiration to becoming an Adirondack High Peak 46er, which would be Dix mountain. I also backpacked into Slide Brook lean-to (which I highly recommend!) to escape the 4am rush at the parking lot, which was very relaxing. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the video as I attempt to captivate the beauty that this range has to offer and the wildlife as well!

Also, this is easily one of my favorite ranges in all of the Adirondacks :)

I kind of like to do this video and photo thing, so follow me on Instagram for more!

  • Thanks, Jake. Loved hiking Dix range with you thru this video. I did it with your dad years ago. I'm enjoying your technique of fading the background or foreground of small parts of nature's beauty. Love the details.
  • Jake - Would love to experience this with you some time! Great video as always!

Did you by chance go to high school in Oneida NY?
