If you have served in our military and reading this , from the bottom of my heart thank you. To the men and woman who never got the chance to come back home you will never be forgotten

My husband was a combat engineer who deployed to Afghanistan in 2014, his platoon unfortunately 79 days in hit a roadside bomb that killed his ied dog, and 3 of his brothers, he was 19 at the time. He has all of his limbs but suffers from multiple traumatic brain injuries from the incident, and the ones that followed before he was able to be evac out to come home for treatment. This entire series makes me feel closer to him. I love him so much I thank God he is still here, I wish the producers knew how much influence this series has had in people's lives, it's helped me understand him in ways I don't think I could as a civilian be able to understand before, everyone's story in the military and their deployments are different, I don't know everything, but it does help me to feel closer to him, and I'm thankful for that. Watching this in 2023 hurts so much as all these brave men and women fought for US and our politicians just pulled out from Afghanistan without any exit strategy.
  • I can’t stress enough how heroic every one of these men in every episode and beyond to the stories that haven’t been told - you men are hero’s, you are peace keepers for those who need you most- me and my family, him and hers, theirs and ours, you guys keep us safe. Thank you so much!
  • There are no words for the respect these men and women deserve . Should be rewarded far much more then any entertainment person . They sacrifice so much more then anyone that walks this earth . God Bless the troops and their families.

From the 40 min mark on is 100% accurate. It's what is driving most veterans crazy now. The hardest part to deal with.

I loved the honesty. “Once you cross to the dark side, there’s no turning back” So true. I miss those days.

I was there in 06 and 07 and it was the nastiest deployment I had. We were hitting multiple targets almost every night, and if not, we were doing counter IED ambushes. Lost 53 KIA along the way. GERONIMO!

I served many years in 3/75 and I am so proud of these men and the example they set for the Regiment. Not chest beaters, but gentlemen-warriors in every sense of the word who humbly recount their actions, even down to their dress in coat and ties. Sua Sponte.

  • So inspiring. Finding true friends who would die for you and then becoming a civilian and realizing that you're surrounded by most people that are only in it for themselves....
