I try to upgrade my iPod 6th Gen 80GB in 2023.

This video showcases replacing its failed hard drive with an iFlash.xyz iFlash Solo adapter and a 128GB SD card, giving this classic a new lease on life.

I also upgrade its look with new front and back plates from Elite Obsolete Electronics.eoe.works/

The journey hits a snag with a 2000mAh battery from EOE that doesn’t fit, adding a twist to this tech restoration tale.
Hope you like it, folks!

I bought an 80GB silver 6th Gen in 2010 from my friend for $80. Used it religiously for around 6 years. Surprised everything on it works (except the hold button). Pulled it out of a box it's been sitting in for 2 years and IT STILL HAD 60% CHARGE.

I still have a busted iPod Classic 160GB in a drawer somewhere. It's crazy to think I used to walk around in my early teens with 20k songs I ripped from the internet. Good times man

I still have a classic and because I always charged and discharged all the way,it’s still in great shape and I oftentimes listen to it through my air pods max (corded)
  • I had the Sansa Fuze. Superior in some ways, because you could use SD cards. And keep multiple card full of music and video. Not to mention, you could load the cards up, without the player.

Very cool video, I never had an iPod classic. I had however a creative mp3 player, the first one that came out. You inspired me to have a look at this iPod device again.

I have an early iPod touch. It lives in my kitchen, always plugged in and is used as a timer. It’s a lovely time capsule of the skeuomorphic os of the early iPhones.

  • Please consider a video on how to update, upgrade a iPod classic in one video to have 1) more storage like this video 2) how to install blue tooth 5.3 3) wireless charging 4) convert to have USBC 5) different operating system to include better sound quality an types of data then iTunes.. Hopefully can control via Android instead of Windows or a Mac. 6) biggest possibly best battery. 7) Since it sounds like you offer this service please post details on how to offer a donor iPod to have you do it for us.
