  • Thank you. Please pray for my birth mom to come to know God and come back to the family and for judgements to stay away from her. Thank you. Please pray this prayer every day.
  • I am grateful for this. I was never taught self regulation, so it's hard to know how to teach my son

As a soon-to-be teacher, I'm always trying to find methods to help kids calm down emotionally since some tend to get emotionally overwhelmed, and I'm hoping to be that teacher that helps them control their feelings since I didn't have much of that growing up. Thank you so much for the lovely methods and I'll be sure to try them out. ^^
  • Another help with a big emotion, like fear or sadness, is a familiar task. Like going to the bathroom, putting a toy away, solving a familiar puzzle, or finding a familiar book. This seems to help my son anyway. It's like it reminds him there is safety, not just fear or sadness.

I love the pizza breathing visual as one of my sons loves pizza! My kids (well, teens now!) are autistic and I've found two things to be particularly valuable. Practicing strategies when they are calm so it's easier for them to remember them when they start to feel overwhelmed. And having visual reminders of the strategies handy that they can look at - so they don't have the added stress of trying to process what you're saying to them

These are such great age appropriate techniques. I love how you understand we don't always have lights bells or essential oil, especially in the moment. I have read for years books blogs and videos talk to psychologists etc but these strategies are so simple sticking out making me feel like I can make this work for my son and I. Thanks so much!
  • Great tips ! I have an amazing highly sensitive 9 years old who feels quite stressed sometimes, I will teach him these techniques , I think he will especially like Pizza Breathing. Thanks for the great video šŸ˜Š.
  • As soon as I read your channel name, I subbed! Thank you my brother, may Jesus bless and guide you always šŸ™šŸ¼

Thank you so much for these strategies! I can already picture my 6-year-old doing pizza breathing when he is stressed ( his favorite food!) He has sensory struggles we have been trying to find hands-on tools to help him calm down and regulate. I am so glad that I stumbled upon your channel.

get in contact emotionally, mirror their feelings, let them know that this is a normal feeling that everyone have and that you know how it feels. after that try to give helpful stress releasing strategies by doing on your own and invite the kid to try too
  • Tried pizza breathing because it seemed awesome. Taught it when my son was calm. Practiced it when he was angry (trigger was that he couldnā€™t get the right video to play on tv). Didnā€™t want to try it and proceeded to kick objects in the room. I modelled it again and he got more angry. Eventually he calmed down on his own.

Do you have a printable that goes along with these 4 strategies? It would be great to laminate and put on their school desk or fridge at home.

My son has trouble whole body listening and always find every part of him everywhere except on where he needs to focus. Yesterday I taught him to clasp hands and cross his legs when on floor or cross feet when on chair to restrict his urge to get busy. I just saw this video and feel like i did something sensible šŸ˜‚
  • @ashley-pc2cd
Watching this at 21 because I never learned how to regulate
  • My neighbor had an idea of smelling the roses and blowing out the candle
