It's great to have a project that brings an old dream into a reality - love this one 👌

Also, your screenshot of that older bike is pretty blurry, but it really looks like it has bar end mirrors to me. Regardless, I would definitely advise a set. It will maintain that low profile, aggressive look but be a zillion times safer. I get a better view with bar ends than I do with most conventional mirrors.

Great idea. Looking forward to this series. The original photo looks like there's a bar end mirror on that right handlebar. If you're keeping the clip ons then full over-the-shoulder life savers become a pain (literally), whereas bar end mirrors will give you the extra few degrees of view meaning less neck strain on a long journey.
  • Fascinating project Kate! Look forward to seeing its progress. I had the same initial observations while watching the video about the bike's height and turning radius. However it is/was a fantastic looking bike so agree with comment above that its a shame to chop it up by making it less comfortable (no fairing) and less safe (no mirrors). Make it your own but just thinking of next owner.

I had a previous shape 98 750 SS, great bike. Shame this Dark model only has a single front disc and Ducati's should be red!

I think you'll find the wing mirrors are an essential safety item..........to watch out for chasing police cars.

Oh the sound of an air cooled Ducati with nice exhausts,I wonder if the original one had Termi's? Any chance you could fit a decent/open clutch cover to show the dry clutch off?. I'm sure you need at least one mirror for an MOT. Ps red Ducati's are the fastest 😂, good luck with your project, I'm looking forward to it👍.

Love the idea but a shame to chop up a mint low mileage bike?
  • @bad71able
You REALLY don't want to turn a Ducati SS by levering all the weight onto the kickstand like that, that's a VERY bad idea. That is bolted straight onto the engine with a single bolt, that frequently ends up with a damaging engine case.

Any excuse to get back to Bella Italia eh? And add in a Ducati...not at all jealous😉

Funny, we always justify the price we pay to ourselves, maybe a rehearsal to explain to our other halves
