I give a basic overview about cleaning the carb on our buggy go kart. The carburetor is always a trouble area if the engine is not cranked or started at least once a month. This go cart sat for a year or so without ever being started so the fuel in it evaporated and gummed up the jets.

Ethanol can clog a carb. First thing to check is to adjust the jet, because people mess with them. Spark plugs also foul out fast with 2 stroke engines and only cost $3. By cranking it the engine pumps fuel, and will remove any water in the jets. Water can settle in the gas tank bowl that sprays into the jets. Condensation, snow, and rain gets in the tanks threw the gas lid wheep hole. Also change air filter after 25 hours of use. Clogged air filter will cause it to overheat, and run too rich. Engines run colder with new air filters, because the air/ fuel mix is correct. No oil filter on most Briggs engines, so you need to check oil with finger and change if it is dirty. I ran new oil in a old engine for 30 minutes and then changed it again to flush it, and it was all black after 30 minutes, but now it's clean oil after running it for a hour. So you need to change oil more often than you would with a oil filter.

I opened up the other end with the diaphragm and spring. I think I got it in right, but not sure. What do I do?

Do you have to do anything with the fuel line? Is it an enclosed system?

When you say “ it won’t crank”. Yes it cranks as that is what is referring to the engine being turned over. You meant to say it won’t run.

Do u have any idea why my go kart will just turn off when slowing down to a complete stop most of the time and it will not be able to be put in drive for like 30 minutes and what happens when I put it into drive the go kart will jerk foward and turn off by itself and this is a brand new go kart that I recently bought

Could you please show where all of the fuel lines and vacuum lines run to, I have the same go cart but won’t start, thank you

I've got two of these carts and they won't start. I'm baffled at why they won't start. They're both getting air, fuel and spark! Even bought another carb, still wouldn't start on either one. Tried the starting fluid trick but nothing. Maybe low compression?
