We were told about FSD five years ago. We would be able to have Tesla run our Tesla in their Rybo business, and we would get paid for using our Tesla. This was why FSD was so expensive.
  • @jfobear1953
I’ve been using FSD for a couple years. While there have been incremental improvements, in my opinion FSD has a LONG way to go before it is safe for city driving. I would be happily surprised if FSD made a major advancement in the next few years, but I’m not holding my breath. Aside from operating at a marginally adequate level, it is currently more likely to insite road rage from other drivers.
  • @jimpackard8059
Musk promised full FSD in 2016. That tells you everything.
  • @Tigerex966
Actually the one screen no buttons knobs stalks is cost cutting. Adding them back cost more than screens and capacitive buttons
  • I'm thinking of putting some cash in stocks, I was at Salt Shack and I overheard some friends saying it's ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? I’ve been sitting on over $545K equity from a home sale and I’m not sure where to go from here, is it a good time to buy into stocks or do I wait for another opportunity?
  • @McDaniel77
The 48 V system will reduce the costs for wiring a lot. Maybe they will also go for 800 V for the battery and drive units. The Gigapress will be the key element for a cheaper and smaller Tesla Model 2. Tesla will offer new models like a van or bus. The market for Model S & X is smaller, than for Model 3 & Y. They really need a $20.000 Tesla vehicle.

Just because people haven’t gotten accidents doesn’t mean that it is ready for autonomous driving. I have been using their FSD for the last month and have to intervene regularly. It’s amazing but also not great
  • @maxidaho
Yeah, can't wait until my every move outside my home is monitored and logged. "Alexa, how can I can preserve privacy in my life?" DAMNIT!
  • Would it be wise for somebody who wants to start investing in stocks to start with Teslas? Sounds like it is going to be the next apple
  • @sos10
Stalks are more expensive than touch buttons, a classic cluster is also more expensive than a screen.
  • @sanford195
Vision-only is the key phrase. It’s the cheapest solution, but it won’t be safe enough. And I would never want to see an car, cyber truck or a Tesla semi barreling down the highway in a rainstorm, snowstorm or foggy night without something more sophisticated like, FLIR.
  • @jordand6217
Some of the the things you've proposed as cost cutting measures would counterintuitively increase manufacturing and sourcing costs. Specifically: Steering Wheel stalks and gauge clusters. We've seen other car companies switch from from having physical control objects like these to screens and ever smaller buttons where possible largely to reduce manufacturing costs. Tesla is no exception.
  • @user--PM
i would prefer to have the turn signal stalk vs the current buttons on steering wheel, otherwise i will take the least expensive option of any of the mentions, i like the screen, but dont need the fsd expensive computer, dumb cruse is all i care about, and the adaptive cruse with it's phantom braking leaves me with just driving myself 99% of the time. i love my model 3 rwd, but not everyone can get behind the cost of one, so was really hoping for the 25k tesla to become a reality, instead it appears we are not going to be getting it sooner, and maybe even not later?? guess on 8/8 we shall find out which.
  • @CyberSamurai4Life
I have all the Teslas I've been in I never once, even back in 2018, got into a Tesla and thought the interior or anything was exceptional. It never happened
  • @richb2229
Tesla hasn’t changed. It’s goals spelled out in its “Master Plan” are the same as they were a decade ago. Minor changes in its implementation strategy is happening (and should) because of external economics, Inflation, interest rates, and potential severe recession. Tesla needs to be flexible in its short term strategy. One bad quarter, isnt a trend as you infer, and many external factors you don’t mention impacted Q1.
  • The only problem I have with stead by wire is , now the steering his completely hackable by computer and it doesn’t work if the car’s computer goes down
