Germany is a treasure trove for quirky interesting tools, and after many suggestions from all of you, I made sure to check out Bauhaus to see what innovative tools they had to offer!

But I didn't just stop at Bauhaus, I also popped over to another tool store - Toom - to see what tool pickups we could find! Toss in a quick lunch at my favourite hidden gem restaurant Smileys and this German Tool hunting trip was easily my most successful yet!

I am a 66yr old divorced woman. I probably own a drill, some screwdrivers and a hammer etc but I really don’t know why I can’t stop watching Shadow Foam! It’s like an addiction at this point.
  • My dear British friend, I don't think you know how or what you can do with a "Zollstock" other than measure? That you can use this measuring instrument to mark measurements without getting splinters in your fingers when you run your hand along rough edges, because you can even use the "Zollstock" as a stop with a measuring distance. The "Zollstock" - at least some people have one - can indicate angles; there is an angle scale printed between the joints. And as kitchen and BBQ tongs they are unbeatable and you can even use them to remove the crown cap from a bottle of beer (leverage with a longer arm = physics).

The big stores in Germany are awesome, you can never have too many tools......

Spent many years working across Europe as an electrical service engineer. Can’t drive past a Bauhaus without a cheeky look around. I too have a soft spot for a Zollstock, we should start a support group😂

I went in to a Bauhaus in Hanau Germany as a US Army soldier and fell in love immediately! Thanks for bringing back those great memories!!

Oh my local Bauhaus in NL is always such a treat. My gf rarely lets me roam the store anymore because she knows I'll buy things I absolutely need for some odd job years from now. Love these videos!

Used to live in Germany, the DIY shops always used to amaze me

So at 6:39 in the video you have a large T key in your hand that is made for door locks. When you install a door lock but not have a cylinder in yet or door handle to open it, this tool with the pointy end can open de door, a bit further down you see a notch that work as a cylinder to lock the door. At the top you can use these square bits also for the door handle if the square pin is in place but no handle attached yet.

I really miss the German hardware stores. Screwfix and Tool Station don't have the same possibility to actually browse for interesting items. It's fine if you know exactly what you want, but being able to handle the item and feel the quality, is much more useful IMO.

I work in social housing & change 100’s of toilet seats. I never knew the universal tool existed until watching your latest video! I’ve found a version of them on eBay for £8 . Nice one, thanks !
  • @alinicol
Love your hunt for more Zollstocks. Loved my time in Germany in the tool store.
  • @greggcoulter6008
Love these videos with different, unique, or just cool tools. Especially that they’re from different countries. I actually enjoy just bringing us along while you shop and getting to see the differences with hardware stores and tools from other countries.

The Toom universal key is also sold by Knipex, it's built exactly the same, just in a different colour
  • @stuartgreen8606
The silver tool you picked up and said it looks like it could go on a necklace is a lock multi tool, it's used for measuring euro cylinders and for operating multi locks on doors when there's no cylinder in the door and also has keys on the other end for gas and electricity cabinets
  • @dr.oetqer
Great video, I love watching you go out and about to find some interesting tools. Thanks for sharing!
  • @markjones7189
Great to see the Einhell tools in today's video, I've been using them without issue for over 4 years now. Also spotted the Einhell zollstock in your collection, which pleased me as I was about to send you mine😊
  • @Penster-Elle
I love Germany having lived there for a total of 9 years and love going back there.
  • @Forr0n
I am glad I found your channel. It's just so much fun to see you gosh about the tools.
  • @peterjones2594
Would love to see a plumbers tool kit. I’ve never seen a plumber with a tidy tool kit.
