Correction- 1965 quarters were made at Denver and San Francisco mints also-without mintmarks as were all denominations for 1965-1966-1967 coins.

When i bought my house back in 2008, i bought it from the original owner from 1957. I found his coin collection built into the ceiling of the basement. He had 2 brand new ever opened rolls of the 1965 in mint state. I have several really nice ones and ddo and ddrs. I also found a bunch of cc siver dollars and $5k of old $100 bills from the 30s to the 50s. All the bills had different color stamps on them. I found quarters from the 1850s as well as dimes and 2 cent pieces.
  • I was born in 1965 September 11th, I am obsessed with the 1965 coinage, in the last 2 years I have been on a mission to find any Perfect coinage from 1965. So far I have of course found the Rotated Die 65 Dime SMS and a 65 SMS quarter plus a Nickel with I believe 5 Full Steps and 2 Pennies in the Most Perfect Condition I think I have ever seen, Not a ding or blemish anywhere on them. In time I am going to get All of them Graded because I strongly believe they are the best of the Best of examples!!!!
  • Wonderful commentary! Really I've been looking at the many semi older coinage! That you have been commenting on; Bravo Zulu ! So, good to see and hear about the 1965 quarters along with others; while so, many are collecting the earlier dated coinage, I've have been interested in these quarters that I grew up with having in my pocket change! While building my stack, I have begun to take a closer look at these coins; Mostly due to the pandemic; Because, the Bank's in Baltimore MD. Have just recently, began to release minimum rolls, other than quarters; From 2019-2022, I was limited to two rolls only of the Quarter denomination of coins. Admitting, I was not a believer of any coin shortage; And, I was quite offended at the explanation from the Bank manager, at the Wells Fargo bank in which I have been a customer for well over 25 years; "not only that there was a coin shortage, but, because of the shortage, the US. Mint came and confiscated most of the Banks coinage and took the coinage back to the Mint. Now about a year prior around 2017-2018, I went into wells Fargo Bank, asking the teller" "can I have some silver?" She told me that she was"sorry, but, the Bank doesn't give silver anymore;" while she was speaking with me, the Banks manager came over and ask, if he could assist me? Again, I asked him, "can I have some silver?" "The teller just informed me that the Bank doesn't give out silver anymore;"" He confirmed that the teller told me correctly; then I asked the Manager," well since you no longer give silver, "can I have some 1/2 dollars?" He looked up at the teller and said," yes, I think we could let him have some 1/2 dollars. So, not being able to get what I exactly wanted, I settled on fifty dollars worth of 1/2 dollars! But, it really did" erck"(bother) me, that I was seeing so many Carcasion's online opening $200.-$500. boxes of beautiful Bank rolled coins, Cent's, Nickel's, Dime's, Quarters, 1/2 dollars, and yes, some were still getting Bank rolled"boxes" my heart desire silver! So, I really did believe that sense the Pandemic hit, so many people having a lot more time on hand, began filling their time online and seeing so many collectors stacking what appeared to be their heart desire of whatever coinage; And, 99% of the guys online the were unrolling boxes of coinage we're Carcasion's, and the only commentators who were also showing off their finds from coin roll hunting boxes of Bank rolled coins, and they all on line appeared to be Carcasion's? Along with the only Numismatist and Numismatic collectors, who were stacking and selling coinage, most, if not all that I was was viewing appeared to be Again, Carcasion's; well, yes, I began to really believe that this was some sort of conspiracy to keep people of color, like myself from gaining any monitory value; By making it very difficult to get the necessary coinage in the first place, with this sudden coin shortage.the only way that I was going to get any type of coinage to view, examine, and stack, was through the only two rolls "allowed" to get from the Bank, pocket change from various places that I being in a wheelchair, have excess to using my only source of travel, which are the MTA Mobility! Using what I have, therefore, going to Walmart, Giants, Aldi's, home delivery from Chinese joint; Are where I have gotten some hard earned" Pocket change "! Then because of my limited source of venue for finding something, if not anything, occasionally obtaining a few rarity, and varieties! It has become a very hard struggle to aquire enough of anything to press, and keep motivating myself to search and cherry picking what little that I have been able to achieve simply taking my time and still enjoying the hobby! No, I didn't say that I am a Collector; What I said, "that I am taking my time to enjoy the hobby!" Even though my Chronic medical conditions, and limited resources make it somewhat hard, even difficult; Thanks be unto God that through Him, all things are possible, and work together for them that love the Lord and are called, according to his purpose!"" Is there anything to hard for the Lord? Can God? Oh, yes, God can!"" I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"" God, are giving me the desire of my heart!""He's making me to eat from the fat of the land!""God is enlarging my territory!""The cattle on a thousand hills belongs to God!"And, He says that"I am a joint Herr of Christ!" "Therefore, I believe to receive the full favor of God!" Because, He has opened up the window of heaven and pour me out a blessing, wherefore, there's not room enough to receive it!" God promised to pour upon me from the latter rain!""God will cause men to give unto me from their boussoms (heart) pressed down, shaken together running over shall men give unto me, parts from the latter rain ☔ that God has promised me!"" Wherefore, eyes have not seen, neither has ear Heard, nor have it entered into the heart of man, the things that He has prepared for me; because I love Him, I serve Him, and I wait on Him!""And, He that will come, shall come, and will not tarry!"And, my reward He brings with him!""God, will give me a robe of pure white!""God makes my face to shine with His countenance!"" Because, He knows that I seek to do His will, the will of Him who sent me!"" I may not be who you want, but, I am who God sent!" And, God says, Because, you speak this Word, I make My Word in you like fire, and the people like wood;""How long halt you between two opinions, if the Lord be God, than follow Him, if not then follow Baal." Live life well and enjoy yourself!

just commented on your past video from 4 yrs ago . looking at my 60s quarters now ...mahalo .
  • @burtonhanna
Thank you, Shaun! I have a 65 quarter with a die clash. But it's pretty worn. I can barely see the clashing on the obverse. Reverse is more visible. I'm hanging on to it, though.🙂
  • @ladyluna4172

I just happen to have a 1965 double die obverse. Ungraded. Under magnification it's very evident.
  • @EFD39
Great video, Shaun! Worth the whole watch as always.
  • How's it going, Shaun. Thanks for reminding me (with this vid) to re-examine some of the 1965's that I'd put to the side awhile back. I haven't check their varieties but I have a couple 1965 DDOs, and have 3 that have Struck through errors. One has a retained Struck through error. I've been meaning to take a closer look at the ones I just put to the side but got myself sidetracked with searching thru other rolls of coins and finding other errors. I truly appreciate the time you took in putting this vid together and getting it out to us, buddy. I hope everything is well with you, and the ones you love. Take care. Have a good one.✌

Hello Shaun, I just saw another video besides your's ( some D coin guy ) who claims 1965's quarters were minted only at Philly. - and that only some collectors kits, where done in SFo. - Also that some '64's where still struck in '65 - Yet in '65, considered a transition year they tried several alloys, or metals, with different results, which went on through some part of '66, and into circulation, - all the way without mint mark until the 1968 series? Now, me new to the trade, I am in possession of a beautiful 1965 no mint mark, with DDO, and shinier than coins from 2012/14- however, when looking into the side, you have a little, lets just say "...sandwich..." of metals: With the obverse up, and looking where the 139 groves must be, you get, a very very thin of silvered color, then copper red for about 65% of the coin thickness, and then again, a silvered colored on the bottom. - Here is the kicker, that opened up my eye and attention: There are groves marked on the bottom part of the silvered colored area. The rest of the coin is totally bold and even with rounded edges. Then there are a few errors, such as date mark embeds into the rim. So it is the "Liberty" (embeds into rim) and the rim itself is thicker on the West, and thinner on the East side of the coin.- On the reverse, I can also see a line in parallel curve to the rim, going the middle height of the word "America" (with the exception of the first A ) - I guess that this part of the coin was struck inclined or during some kind of movement, since the center is in excellent shape, while the edges tend to be flatten, on the bottom, from the olive branches out down, with very shallow rise, and barely feel the relief there. Similar up in the NW of the coin where "Un-ited States of America" with "Un" fusing into rim with almost a flat releif, while the rest of the description fare just a bit higher rise., but not that much. Regardless everything is clearly readable, and both sides have a strong shine to it, as it came into my hands, in change last night. My question, considering that I understand that those coins which have missing groves are so called broad struck, yet this one has half groves and half broad struck, what do you call these cases?
