  • There’s an advantages to build a house in an exclusive subdivision for security purposes.
  • Yeah, crime is everywhere in every country. The Philippines is no exception. We have 2 Boxers that are very good house guards. But we wont leave our dogs outside at night because my wife has heard stories from friends that have had their dogs poisoned by food thrown over the walls. Every morning before they go out, she walks around the yard to make sure nothing has been tossed in. Once we build, the area we will be in wont have as much foot or car traffic so less people to worry about. We owned guns in the US and the wife enjoyed going to the range. She was a double threat, black belt in karate and pretty good marksman with a gun but I have also given her training in knife fighting since moving here. I will be buying her a gun once we get the house built out away from population.

Great video Greg and Wilma. Times have changed everywhere, including the Philippines. I suppose it has to do with the Internet and how quickly human behavior is transmitted around the planet. The first two incidences you mentioned, I would attribute to lack of common sense. Petty crime is a crime of opportunity. Nice cluster Wilma! Thank you for bringing this topic to the forefront. Take care always.
  • Hi Greg & Wilma. Thank you for your maturity in openly and thoroughly talking about this topic other expat vloggers seemingly would rather avoid discussing. (Several months ago, I asked an expat YouTuber in the Philippines about the risk of break-ins considering I’ve seen houses there with high walls with barbed wire or even broken glass on top as a deterrent. He took such offense at my question, he suggested the Phil’s may be too dangerous for me and blocked me from further communication. But not before I reminded him that often ‘good fences’ make ‘good neighbors’.) Sure, petty theft and house break-ins happen globally. I believe the deterrents you presented are also universal. I’m Canadian and have been the victim of several car break-ins, bicycle thefts and others on several occasions in Canada. I even had body panels stolen from my Classic Toyota Hilux 4x4 Diesel pick-up in Canada! Talk about gutsy! Here in Japan, I can leave my house and bicycle unlocked and nothing gets taken ever. In Japanese culture, no one would dare think of touching anything that doesn’t belong to them - even money laying on the sidewalk!

All crimes of opportunity. You can not let your guard down or you will be taken advantage of in the Philippines. Good video Wilma and Greg...We want more Prince...lol....Jim
  • The best deterrents only ‘keep honest people honest’. A dedicated criminal is more daring. But reducing the opportunity is something I’ve practiced a lot, in my life. We spent several days looking at houses north of Manila (Pampanga Province), and only in gated, secure developments. Even so, if we buy a house in one of those communities (become a 10%er?), we’ll still be using security measures at the house. Along with our vehicle. Thanks Greg and Wilma, for this informative video 👍 Now it’s time to get mine recorded

As i live in IloIlo city in a condo that is one of the cleanest and safest citys in Philippines i feel ok.=) But solar sensorlights and cctv with motion sensors are cheap now and around and in houses is pretty standard now =)

Prince is ❤. We didn’t turn on our house alarm during his stay with us . He is on patrol around the property

Common sense aint so common, my late grandparents taught us this long ago, it seems more prevalent today than ever before!! Where did all the street smartz go!! Some need to go to a major city and either: 1. Re learn game or 2. Learn game and then apply it with great ole common sense or simply think, in the first place!! I spit or speaketh the truth!! Trudat Real talk&Nuff Said!! All be blessed, safe, healthy, happy, awake, aware, smart and great ( compassionate)!! Much love and happy through (out) year to all, especially to my fellow VETS and those still serving in theatres worldwide and in space currently!! I am both former US 🇺🇸 Navy Beachmaster Unit Two-(BMU-2) gator and then Army infantry OCS and beyond dude!! Alot of crime going on here in Angeles City!! Hear more and more sirens giing off from my bedroom window!! I was a victim in my own home from workers working in and around my home as I fell asleep!! My pry/crowbar from my jeep box of supplies(very sentimental to me), was stolen and the rest is none of your biziness!! Use your imagination, if you will!! It can happen and does hapoen to anyone, no matter how you prepare!! This from a former "the security officer", in my OCS class& appied those skills learned throughout my career in the military, armed security officer( overnight) and a person who sold high end home security systems!! Yes, si, chai ( Thai), dung ( Vietnamese), ja, oui, Oo ( tagalog filipino for Yes) Thurl G fly smooth money 💰 ( 4 of my many nicknames combined) signing off from the beautiful but hot, caliente o mainit ( tagalog filipino for hot 🔥 🥵 😍) Philippines 🇵🇭😢😮❤😅😊
  • Good morning guys, had my cell stolen by a contractors worker, but they returned it once I confronted the contractor.
  • @codywy5579
Statistics say the people to worry about are the people that you let inside your home. Workers, maids, "friends". ✅✅✅
  • @MRS.RM1
Good information Wilma and Greg! Can’t wait for part 2!
  • @johnthomas5806
look around, there are sensors that trip an alarm that are wireless. These will be tripped when a beam is broken, volume is adjustable so it can be set to only alert you or it can be so loud to scare off an intruder..just a thought.....
  • @jamesnichols2511
two things: I noticed how dark your yard looked at night, even when all your lights were on. perhaps you might install a couple of poles in the yard with solar lights on them to light up the yard so an intruder can't hide in the shadows. Also, with Wilma being the licensed owner of the pistol, can you fire it if an intruder attacks you on your property and Wilma was out of commission at that time. Love Prince, a beautiful dog. have you thought about getting one more dog. 2 dogs would be much more a deterrent than just 1.
  • @paulk8444
Wilma's a crack shot and Prince looks like a good dog as I think it's great Greg has prepared her as so often the ladies get afraid and rely on the men and allot of time they are then alone and unable to defend themselves, so it adds confidence and mare serenity feeling safe. Good Advice
  • Good tips as usual very informative. Looking forward for that last Security tip: acquiring a gun 😮. See if I still have the enthusiasts 😊😊
  • @amowatt01
A sign on the external gate/wall tht says "This property is monitored by XXXXX " is also a great deterant, where XXXXX is a company or CCTV cameras or dogs.............Dogs, Light will keep the basic low life away.
  • @tonyste12
Yet, another Great and Informative video. You guys are providing real info, that people need and better listen too...and if they are 'smart', they can understand everything you say and some that you do do not (can not say) :)
