[SAMSUNG GALAXY FOLD6 REVIEW]

Despite widespread skepticism following a tumultuous launch, it only took two generations for Samsung’s Galaxy Fold to demonstrate its value to power users, and three generations to solidify itself as the Galaxy Note for a new era: an expensive but extremely powerful pocket PC for a new generation of "mobile accomplishers."

But here's the problem: Samsung saw that success ... and ... milked it. The Galaxy Fold 4 was a relatively minor upgrade to the Fold 3, and the fifth iteration was so tame, so uninspired, that even I, the foldable fanatic ... skipped covering it. Because while Samsung was making improvements you could only measure with calipers, companies like OnePlus, Google, Xiaomi and Honor kept pushing the envelope with better cameras, bigger batteries, slimmer casings, different materials and new aspect ratios.

So, many of us hoped that 2024 would be the year Samsung finally stepped on the gas. Maybe it would finally widen that cover screen to match the competition; maybe it would add a 5x telephoto camera; or give its S Pen stylus a proper garage that didn't require a clunky case; or work on minimizing that crease. And even if Samsung didn't do any of that ... maybe that would mean the price could finally come down!

Sadly, the Galaxy Fold 6 meets none of those criteria. And after its unveiling, my first impressions reflected that:    • Samsung Galaxy Ring, Z Flip6, Z Fold6...

Since that time, I've spent ten days with the Galaxy Fold6. First in Paris (where Samsung flew me along with a ton of media to cover its massive launch event) ... then in Mexico City (where Spotify flew me, along with a ton of influencers, to cover something completely different). Fun fact: for that Spotify trip, I left my laptop at home, and used the Fold6 as my sole computer for all three days.

That deep dive showcased the kind of polish you only get when your product is on its sixth generation … refinement that’s truly laudable. The Fold6 is an outstanding foldable. But neither that refinement nor its vaunted “AI” features cured my frustration with the phone’s iterative timidity, nor did they convince me of Samsung's need to charge even more money for it.

Man, Samsung spent all that money buttering you up with hotel stay and all and then you dunk on their new phone, savage. 😅 Of course, Michael is not a sell out, mad respect.
  • @Evie0133
5:33 crazy part, the Fold2 actually had a slightly BIGGER battery than every one of its successors, at 4500mAh ;)
  • @TazMo86
MrMobile doesn’t upload his reviews as early as other tech yotubers but his reviews are the most polished. I wait for them because of the transparency and the detalis he provides that aid the decision to buy the product or not. I hope he reviews all the foldables of this year.

I have the money and I still can't justify paying all that money for a phone that has subpar cameras, too small outer screen and too slow charging speeds
  • @sfmn2396
2 hours charging speed is actually pretty crazy, how is it even possible for such price in 2024 smh
  • @cms_samuel
How the price went up?? They didnt even change to Titanium
  • @timr.2257
    Scamsung: Yesterday's specs, tomorrow's price 😂

Why don't we just use the camera hump to argue for a bigger battery... Makes the design more flat. This obsession about thin phones killing battery for me. Battery tech is evolving where they are actually becoming lighter and holding the same capacity. Either that or go back to swappable batteries again. 0 to 100 in 10 seconds. Done

I went from Fold 4 to Fold 6. I am happy with the refinements. I do still miss my S21 Ultra with 10x zoom. The lack of camera updates is disappointing

I've literally been checking your channel 5 times a day waiting for this video 😂
  • @diegosaul402
I jumped from the fold 3 to the fold 6 because of the very good price they gave me to trade in my fold 3. You can feel the improvements in weight and thickness but my main problem was video consumption in the main screen. The crease was too noticeable to me but now with the fold 6 is way better, is still there but you really can forget about it. The cover screen is good enough for me now, is used to be a bit too narrow to type and watch videos without too much cropping. Samsung has removed almost all of the pains of daily driving a foldable with the 6, well, if you don't want the top cameras.
  • The fact that there is still no place to store the pen is such a disgrace. The only way to carry a pen is to buy a hideous case.
  • Thank you for an actual review. The lip service, dog and pony reviews by CNET and other reviewers for Fold 6 had lacked depth and just don't sound like reviews from people who genuinely use foldables. It's nice to hear the fold 6 compared to other non NA market phones as well. Keep up the great reviews Mr Mobile! Even though this review was released later than everyone else's, it's the only one that counts.
  • @DanielPaladino
Yep, Wife has a Fold 3 that is dying and we pre-ordered the 6. Despite all the short cummings it is still the only real option here in Australia unfortunately. We had been in China recently and saw the amazing options they have there from Oppo and Huawei. They are way ahead.
  • @navixaxa5023
Don't know about ya'll I've been a Regular Brick/ Slab Phone person all my life. Have Pre-Ordered my ZFold 6. Couldn't believe, firstly, how light it was. Couldn't tell a difference between the ZFold and my S22 Ultra. Secondly, I absolutely am in favour of a Thin/ Slim Cover Screen. With a device this big, it is really easy to operate the Cover Screen with 1 hand. The exact issue with OnePlus Open is that since the Cover Screen is wide, it almost makes one-hand operations impossible without doing those dangerous sliding maneuvers. OneUI really is the best of em all. S-Pen, cherry on top. What I love tho are the crazy deals Samsung offers if you Pre-Book. Can't wait for my ZFold 6 to come!
  • @wickedhero3764
biggest issue with foldable is the screen durability, which can be broken by using only fingernail. if they want to mass adoption they need to find a way to improve the screen
  • @Asuwish1
I can't think of a better reviewer for this (and all high end phones) than you. Thank you for all the minor details you cover!
  • @helterskelzer3883
They could have done more. But you have to use the fold 6 in person, it's so good
