As Owen and Joe point out, this hasn’t happened in isolation. Islamophobia has been promoted for years by supposedly “respectable” politicians and media outlets. Very depressing, although encouraging to see the community response in Southport today.

I hope everyone that rioted and everyone that supports this riot realise all they're doing is pissing on the memory of the victims. The families didn't even have a chance to grieve.

There seem to be so many hateful people in this country, it's just totally depressing. I'd just like to say you can donate to the Alder Hey Children's Hospital and the families of the victims of the Southport tragedy at Swifties for Southport, on just giving. The total raised so far (Wednesday Evening) is £320,000.
