Japan's Spartan race in the mountains of Niigata is considered one of the toughest races in Japan. 1,100m high with over 20 obstacles, I very foolishly attempted to run it.
🙏 Huge thanks to Nic at @JunkFoodJapan for making this happen! (& Angela!).
🏃‍♂️Thanks to the Spartan Race team for letting us shoot! www.spartan.com/

NOTIFICATION SQUAD: I hope I made Dr Jelly proud. I've never felt so much pain and had so much fun along the way. Would absolutely love to do this again next year and complete every single obstacle. Big thanks to Nic & Angela! Without them this absolutely wouldn't have been possible. The fitness journey continues! 🍿 (And be sure to check out Nic stuffing his face over on Junk Food Japan: youtube.com/JunkFoodJapan
  • Doing a Spartan race with the Dr. Jelly shorts on is bloody good advertising 😂
  • @banisherblade
On top of how physically badass they are, I think it's awesome how supportive Nic and Angela are; they seem genuinely happy when Chris succeeds at challenges.
  • The Dr. Jelly shorts surviving the entire spartan event and every element thrown at Chris really shows the quality lol
  • This is content I need, not a herculean hunk telling me how to work out, but an indulgent cherubim man realistically reversing the debauchery of the years
  • @JunkFoodJapan
Mate that turkey thigh was so worth it! There ain’t no better junk Food than after climbing a mountain. And yes that’s Angela crushing more burpees to get a free beer at the end. Loved the experience and so glad we did it together! Well done Dr. Broad

No matter what, I'm proud of these challenges you are putting yourself through. Cheers to our 30s.
  • @tris0xTV
title correction: you DID Japan's HARDEST Race. Congrats to this insane achievement Chris! Your self improvement journey is super inspiring, keep up the great work!

Ok Chris, I'm 54 and have terrible insomnia. One night that I could not sleep, I was going through your videos and saw this one. Either it was because you inspired me or because I was fecking exhausted, I googled up spartan and I registered for a race near me. I am out of shape now, so I gave myself until next September to get in shape and run it. I have started and I might want to do the whole trifecta thing eventually, maybe one race every year? 🙂 anyway, really like your videos, keep the good work.

I love how everybody started using Nick's technique when pulling the sandbag up. He did make it look ridiculously easy to be fair.
  • @ChrisRyot
I'm sitting here with a hot chocolate, cuddled into my chair and watching strangers sweating their asses off. What a day
  • 26:46 I love how Nic points to Angela, reminding Chris to let his wife get a say as well. Such a sweet pair of Spartans. :)
  • @winslow8779
Nic and Angela are the kind of friends who make you into a better person. They're amazing.
  • I am blown away by the fact that when you decided to get in shape, you didn't just get a gym membership and get fit, you went on to push yourself to a level of fighting fitness a lot of people never aim for. You don't do things by half, and that's awesome
  • @Kate-vk8he
I think the best part about this whole video was Chris letting the guy who did the Spartan race because he saw Chris say he was doing it on Twitter, not only join him, but finish the race with the group. At 32 years old, I recently got into the best shape of my life, and this has lowkey kinda inspired me to try a race for myself!!
  • @erbik
As a guy in my 30s trying to get in shape, this is really inspiring and motivating. I always love when Chris makes these bigger sort of documentary videos, too. Hope he keeps making stuff like this forever.
  • @Supahvegetah
Chris’ journey has honestly inspired me to getting into shape and seeing his insane improvements just makes me more excited
  • When Chris wasnt able to do the rope climb and Nic told him he tried his best, I teared up. That was such a sweet thing to say
  • @ARMYALEX1869
I signed up for a Spartan race near me right after watching your video. You're very motivating and inspiring. Thanks for introducing me to this because I'm a huge sucker for obstacle race yet I've never heard of Spartan race. Now I got a little over a month to turn myself from a couch potato into a built racer. Wish me luck... Edit: Just did this race yesterday. It was a lot of fun. While training for it, the rope climb was the easiest yet it turned out to be the hardest obstacle during the race due to how muddy and slippery the rope and our shoes were so I couldn't get any grip at all. Also got the worst leg cramp of my life, yay. The bucket carry was hell, so was the atlas stone. Couldn't even lift it at all. But aside from that I didn't have much trouble with the other parts. The rain and cold weather made some harder but none I couldn't overcome. It was so fun that I signed up for a Super right after I got home. Once again, thanks for introducing me to this new world I otherwise never would have found out about. It got me motivated and back to working out, which is great for my body. I know you probably won't read this comment but I still want to leave something in case you do.
